I'd like to ask you a simple question: why did you choose to shoot at 24mm instead of 12mm?

Interesting question.
I think it was because of some distractions on the foreground and
I also wanted to give more emphasis to the mountains.
Recently I haven't been using much 12mm anyways, it might be that I found the distortions a bit unnatural.
