Description
From my physical art collectionWhile she put up a whale of a fight, you might want to throw this one back. She might be a little small.
Involved in animation for much of his life, Ric often drew preliminary blue line sketches before he illustrated the final commission. Artistic creations in their own right, I consider myself fortunate to have obtained several of his considerable pile of work both before as well as after his death from ALS.

Ric certainly had a unique touch, both with detail and humor. I count myself fortunate that I was able to be one of his friends in later years as well as being able to collect as much of his work as I was able.

always eager to see them again. Laura told me she had a hard drive disaster a few years back almost 5 now. So most of his art was lost save that either already posted or in the hands of collectors. I tried to gather them a few years back with little response or success.

Yep I was disappointed to learn about that. Worse it was a few years after the fact and she didn't still have the drive. As a photographer, if the drive is not physically trashed, I know a few tricks about recovering data. Ah well, such is life. At least we still have the ones in personal collections.
And please do, his work really does deserve to live on as long as possible.

I've lots more of Ric's blueline work as well as pictures that I was able to obtain during his life or when his wife reluctantly cleaned out the piles in his studio after his death. Hopefully I can persuade the scanner to cooperate. Blueline isn't the easiest thing to scan. The machine wants to either omit it, translate it into black = muddy pictures, but occasionally will get it mostly right - even if I had to help repair some of the lines.

would be great to see! Ric did a bit of commission work for me a few years before he died... One of my favorites is of a lifeguard mermaid sitting on her tower seat with a cluster of admiring surfer-dudes arrayed below her

Well, I'm pretty sure I've a blue line and original line on that theme. So they'll get posted in due time. You'll have to let me know if they're the base of that commission, as I do want to give credit where due.
If not already online you may want to consider sharing. Unfortunately Laura (his widow) had a drive failure and most of his work there was lost about 5 years back now.

i have to find them... when i moved some time ago i packed much of the mermaid collection away and never unpacked it because i no longer have the room to display most of it
i know that i gave my surfer-nephew the lifeguard one for christmas many years ago

I know my fairies have been overjoyed at all the new (old) toys, pictures, and goodies that have been finally seeing the light of day again now that I've started scanning. Now if I can just convince them to let me properly store them away again.
