I love this bunch of bolts. One of the best 2nd bosses I've faced in a game yet.
Also, kudos to you, Kai, for drawing the wind-sweeping at their feet, really adds to the atmosphere of the composition!

I second the comment regarding Midgar nostalgia. Settings like that might be overdone nowadays but for me the visuals and soundtrack of the first few hours of the game are something I've never forgotten.

I think most of that art that is "indulging on how cool the game is" is from fans who only played the compilations of FF7 rather than the game itself.

So much fanart tries to capture the beauty of the character art, or the angst of some of the characters, but so little really takes into account the context and atmosphere of the game itself.

That's probably a better way to say what I meant. It's not that I don't like seeing nice drawings of characters I like, I just feel like there isn't enough art that goes into the core elements of what makes the game such a great experience.
