The SSV Poltava is patroling its space sector somewhere in Attican Traverse, accompanied by a pair of Tridents.The 216 meter long Poltava-class frigates are one of the first human frigates. Along with the Berlin-class cruisers, they formed the basis of the Alliance Systems fleet at the beginning of its rise.
At the beginning of their service, they ensured the safety of trade routes and supported the larger and clumsy cruisers.
Like all Systems Alliance frigates, the ship is named after a battle. The Poltava-class is named after The Battle of Poltava from 1709. This battle was the decisive victory of Tsardom of Russia over the Swedish Empire, in one of the battles of the Great Northern War.
