There was a constant improvement in your skills through the years, it's obvious you been consistent, but it seems there was a huge jump from 2011 to 2012, like if you got artistic superpowers or something.

your jump between 2011 and 2012 is INCREDIBLE! I wish to improve myself like that this year :"O
I see I need to be fully decided on something like "who I want to be"... gah why I am the most undecided person I know *melts in tears ,_, *
and for me , your 2014 looks much more interesting, oryginal and beautiful than in every other of the past years, between 2013-2014 there is an amazing visible jump too!
Good luck with your improvement it goes very well!!Β

wow from 2011 to 2012 you Β made a huge leap in improvement and like composition?? Β you're style really started coming in in 2012 although i see scattered bits of it from '07 to '09. and omg in 2013 it looks Β like you were really fine tuning and refining your style and really coming into the coziness of your style. and now, just holy heck i think this year, especially now that you're back, although u said its been tough, you've really created some ridiculously amazing and nostalgic pieces. i think really get the emotion and where youre coming from now and its just so refreshing and beautiful, and i think its safe to say Β you are easily becoming a huge inspiration and one of my favorite artists. i cant wait to see where you take us next year through your art! happy drawing!

Seriously, I have not found a single piece in your gallery that I do not like! God help me, I love your art style!! The whole connection between humans and nature, this dynamic flow like time is standing still which seems to be a theme in our art! I think that you have been one of the most inspiring people I have followed on DA this far! And it is so cool to see how you have developed over the years!Β

Ahhh gosh well you'll find lots you don't like eventually since I kept up all the stuff from my angsty years but I'm super honored you would say that. I'm just glad you like my stuff that much!

I'm sure you'll find a way eventually. This is only me, but whenever I have trouble making art the problem actually lies elsewhere, like in health or lack of change of scenery and new impressions or lacking social interaction, and in those cases I have to fix that first before I can move on to art again, but when I do it usually goes well once I get back in the swing of it. Sometimes a radical change in medium for a while helps too. I'm sure you've already heard and tried these things though, but good luck anyway!!

This is lovely and gives a lot of insight into the path you took. It's neat to see how quickly you found youself in the last few years, and how your colour pallettes and line personalities definitely form in the last two years. Gives me hope that I'll find my niche soon. I find myself flopping around trying to emulate other artists rather than being comfortable in what I do.
I think I may have to do one of these too, do some introspection. ^.^

JMFenner91 In reply to QuietLittleLeaf [2013-12-31 04:03:16 +0000 UTC]
That's exactly what I did the helped - emulate artists! I suggest making a dream portfolio - like combine all the pieces you want to call your own into one big folder and then go through and usually they'll have stuff in common that is missing in your own work. Like you'll see them all use like the same colors or stylization or something and you can easily pinpoint what needs to change in your own work to match!
Also - your goal as an artist is to become your favorite artist (you want to combine all your favorite things from other styles into one style) so as long as you keep that in mind then you should be able to think about your end goal a little more realistically.

No problem, it's amazing how much improvement can be seen on a large timescale. As long as you diversify you inspirations - there's no shame in your roots haha!

No problem at all - just keep on looking to artists and thinking about what they're doing that you like vs what you are doing and you can bridge the gap in no time!

Gosh why thank you so much. I really am trying to do that more, I feel like if I just do pretty pictures - what's the point? Like if I can convey that something happened before the piece or is going to happen right after the piece - that makes me MUCH more happy!
