Description This is a request pic for  Jamal2504.deviantart.coâ… for the fanfic "Spiders and Magic: Rise of Spider-Mane".

Inspired by my "Wolverine and Fluttershy: Balanced Hearts" pic, this depicts the universe's greatest hero Spider-Man and the Equestrian princess/heroine Twilight Sparkle. Rather than reusing the Yin and Yang motif, I wanted to give them an original, more meaningful treatment (well, in my opinion at least.)

The story itself has a lot of heart to it, and the relationship between the two is a sweet, endearing one. So I went with putting them in a web that ,with them, forms a heart. The use of the web is an allusion to the Web of Life, employed by Madame Web. The strands wrap around them, almost like a it's embracing the two lovers. Surrounding the two are the cutie marks of the Mane 6. Applejack and Fluttershy's cutie marks are connected because I feel they share a common bond towards Spidy. Rarity's cutie mark has an extra strand as she has an extra attachment to him for saving her life at their first meeting. Each mark is engulfed in Twilight's magic as their owners are her greatest, most beloved friends.

Notice Princess Luna's dark spider at the bottom. I added that, not just because it's a cool looking creature. The spider can enforce the web but not be held by it. I also envisioned her as being black with white legs and cutie mark because... well, you'll have to read the story.

I left out the marks of the others as I feel the Mane 6 have a stronger bond to the two than the others (and I didn't want to clutter up the pic too much).

All in all, I like how it turned out. let me know what you think. Hopefully you'll like it as much as I do.

Yeah I spent a lot of money on just those three as it is. But that's not stopping me. I'm gonna pay for another one that's gonna blow your mind.

Peter surprisingly shares traits with all of the main six. He's honest like AppleJack (when it matters at least), he's funny and happy go lucky like Pinkie, He's Loyal and reckless just like Rainbow Dash, He's shy and sensitive like Fluttershy, He's generous and never asks for anything in return just like Rarity, He's smart and magical talent just like Twilight. He fits in so well, that he was the perfect choice for any of them to befriend.

that's one of the reasons why i love the story spiders and magic. in spite of what others have been saying, i think it's a well written story. it fits the spirit of both universes and the characters interact natually, too.

When do you think he will commission youtube animations of it?

not sure. that doesn't really seem like his kinda thing. unless we straight out ask him, he might just stick with the fanfics.

segamarvel In reply to jmkplover [2014-05-20 23:53:45 +0000 UTC]

I asked him and he's considering it. He's even asking for what kind of animators to ask. I gave him a few recommendations of people that animate almost as good as the real show. He's had fanfics and fan arts so why not fan made videos? If a evil story like "cupcakes" can get that kind of attention then why shouldn't this? This might be the next big step to this becoming a "thing" like Doctor Hooves and Derpy.

those are good choices. i'd like to suggest duo cartoonist (children of the night) jan animation (don't mine at night) and miss shellah (fluttershy's dream)[check out her artwork on this site]. i'm tempted to also nominate mister davie (cupcakes/smile HD) if only we can get him to stop with the ultra violence. cupcakes. just what we were talking about...

I just told him of your Ideas and he said this "Can you do me a favor and send them a message about commissioning the story?" The bad news is I don't have a youtube account or how to use it to it's fullest. Can you help?

i'll send a note to jan studios and mister davie (and hope i get a response) but shellahx is feeling sick and stressed right now and i promised her i would wait until june 1st to ask for commissions so she can recuperate. hopefully we all can get this going.

i'm gonna need a better computer if i'm gonna get in on this action. his story doesn't get the attention it rightfully deserves. especially by those ass clowns at equestriadaily.com. you know they dissed his fanfic twice, saying he'd better polish it up before submitting it a third time or that'll be his last? i'm trying to ask tommy oliver to help with the story, but he wants $$$ in return. $50 for his undivided attention. good lookin'out for jamal. this needs to become a big thing.
i'm half and half with the cupcakes story. it was cool, but at the same time traumatising. i must be sick in the head.

I agree with you 110%. I never read Cupcakes. Seeing the vids was enough to warn me away of it. Honestly it would be nice to see this story as it's own alternate universe to the show. Do you know any other good animators for this idea?

You'd think that since Spidey is so important to the multiverse that he to would represent an element of harmony. And that element is obviously responsibility.

I cant believe I'm saying this but I actually want at least some part of this to get recognition in the canon universe. If Doctor Whooves gets to appear then Spider-Mane should be no exception.

Are the official creators of the show even aware of the popularity of this story? If not then I will march right up at the next bronycon myself and make it be known! Think about it. This could be even bigger then the fan creation of Derpy itself.

jmkplover In reply to segamarvel [2014-04-12 08:19:34 +0000 UTC]

they need to know. unfortunately i read somewhere that they aren't suppose to read fanfics. i doubt that's true, though. that would be ridiculous if it was true, seeing as how much the fans have an influence on the show. just don't go through Equestria Daily. they've rejected his story twice, he's got one more chance left. i'm glad i didn't submit my fanfic to them.

hopefully i'll get to attend bronycon one day.

I'm curious, where did you read that it supposedly says that the creators of MLP: FIM are not allowed to read fanfics? That's a completely ridiculous statement that anyone would say. It's like saying that George Lucas would not be allowed to watch the new upcoming Star Wars Films, just because he's not the owner of the franchise anymore, or if the actors of the Harry Potter films were not allowed to read any the books.

Besides, last time I checked, many of the staff members of the show, including Lauren Faust and Tara Strong themselves, are very supportive of the fandom, so I don't see why they wouldn't have the right to view Spiders and Magic. And even IF there are certain rules for them about reading fanfics, one could always print a copy of the home page for story, handed to any cast member who might be at Bronycon, Comic-Con, etc, and then suggest them to make an account on fimfiction so that they can read it, and place their comments about it.

yeah, i was suspicious of it, myself.

i read it on twitter in regards to the princess molestia take down (which i'm still pissed about). what i read was the creators and collaborators of that blog were hired by hasbro to help work on season 5 and EG2: rainbow rocks, but were not to read or write fanfics or other related stuff.

odds are it's all bullshit. it sounds too suspicious to me.

Sensui101 In reply to jmkplover [2014-04-12 09:28:18 +0000 UTC]

Frankly, I wasn't really into the "princess molestia" thing. But I will say that it is completely outrageous that Hasbro would dare to attack the fandom, just so it can keep a tighter grip on the franchise. And like you said, it seems rather odd that Hasbro would actually hire creators and collaborators of the blog, when usually it would seem that they would simply monitor their moves, and warn them to work on anything that could result in any "copyright violations," or any other complicated and illogical crap that they would declare.

The only to find out if this is true, is to interview some of the shows workers, either in a panel or in private, to find out exactly what's going on. And just as a precaution, suggest them to read Spiders and Magic in their private time, and then slowly but surely, the story will become recognizable among the group. Nevertheless, I believe there's a higher chance that they will support the story rather than downgrade it. With the massive support they provide for the fandom, there's no way they would allow anything negative to happen, even if Hasbro gets in the way. And with the support of the untold number of fans out there, there is always a victory.

have you ever heard of tommy oliver on youtube? he analyses a lot of MLP:FIM episodes and some fanfics. lately he's been offering help with writing stories. the only thing is his services cost $$$. one particular type cost $50.00.
i want to get him to help the author's fanfic, but i don't have that kind of money to spend currently.

Hmm..... I wonder. Since this is an My Little Pony and Spiderman crossover, do you think that even Stan Lee would be supportive of it too? Considering the good reputation he has among fans, not to mention that alot of Marvel are most likely bronies now, I'm sure that Stan Lee would give his support for the story too, if it were ever suggest to him at any convention he would be at?

Sensui101 In reply to jmkplover [2014-04-12 10:04:36 +0000 UTC]

Quite true. But that doesn't mean he can't take any precautions. Besides, I'm sure that a guy like him would give his support for it, and make sure that no mistakes occur that would cause any of those company fat cats to spring into action, and try to enforce their "copyright violation" bullshit.

On another note, do you know one of the reasons, if not THE main reason why Disney is so overprotective of their property? It all traces back to the time when Walt Disney first started working on his first cartoon character, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. I forget how it went, but apart from budget issues, something happened that made Walt lose his rights to Oswald, after he was informed by his boss at Universal Studios, Charles Mintz, that he was secretly hiring the animators under a new contract. After he lost the rights to Oswald, Walt Disney decided to become his own boss, and vowed never to lose another work of art to another company executive, or anyone else ever again. So it seems the people at Disney have really taken that lesson very seriously, too much if you ask me.

Hmmm... I wonder if Charles Muntz from "UP" was inspired by Walt's boss, Charles Mintz.

jmkplover In reply to Sensui101 [2014-04-12 10:26:49 +0000 UTC]

charles mintz to charles muntz...... seems legit. as much as i love disney movies, they get away with a lot of undeserved credit. mickey mouse wasn't even walt disney's creation.
as for the property protection, lucas was the same way. up until a year prior to selling, you couldn't make any movies about star wars unless it was a documentary or comedy.
some people get too weird with the legal stuff. i'm glad the folks at MLP:FIM are more lenient.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Sensui101 In reply to jmkplover [2014-04-12 10:50:35 +0000 UTC]

Which is exactly why they would welcome Spiders and Magic with open arms, especially since it's such a well written story. As long as they take precautions to make sure none of that legality bullshit gets in the way, I'm sure that Spiders and Magic would labeled as a mainstream fanfic.

The thing that really gets to me is that Twilight only scratched the surface of Pete's pain. There are much worse things they could have seen him go through. Like Pete was MOLESTED as a child. blogintomystery.com/2012/05/24…
And it STILL doesn't end there. The things he has gone through would traumatize most people just to witness them. For example Spidey is talking about his problems to a beleaguered therapist. michelfiffe.com/columns/marcos…
