Well I always say a person can take great pics with a kit lens. As long as they know how to use the body/lens, that's what matters.

true...I think one of the keys to the kit lens is to really get close to the minimum focusing distance so that you really can get the most of the DoF... thats what I did here, and I think it really made a difference.

A kit lens to me is like underwear. You need it, but you don't always have to wear it.
