Sun over sunflower field - amazing shot - early in the morning I guess. Β

Well, that view is almost at the top of a 100 meter climb; can be a bit exhausting at times as well

It was worth it. I love sunflowers.

Oh, that's nice that my gruelling way to work was worth it for you
Just kidding; there are quite a few nice places around here, but stopping to take photos delays me getting to work, so I don't often do it. Also especially in summer I have to get up really early to catch the sun not yet too high ...

I have the same problem. So I goΒ very early in the morning when it's weekend or sometimes after work. But the most interesting time is ususally the earlyΒ morning - in my opinion. ^^

Indeed. Now I only have convince myself to get up at 4:30 in the morning or so ... better not

You can have a little nap in the afternoon...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

jo-i In reply to Caillean-Photography [2014-05-23 18:42:42 +0000 UTC]

I can't really nap. I need sleep in one single piece a day
In any case, I don't have that job for much longer, so after that it will be a much shorter commute (with less landscape as well). Which, on the one hand, is good; on the other hand though, not so much.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Caillean-Photography In reply to jo-i [2014-05-24 08:04:50 +0000 UTC]

On the one hand it is good? I think it's only a pity...

jo-i In reply to Caillean-Photography [2014-05-24 09:51:08 +0000 UTC]

More free time due to less commuting might translate into more photos as well

I still need to get off my ass, grab the camera and head out. Or take photos of cats

You should - where's the problem? And cats are always lovely.

Laziness. And regarding cats ... I'm not ZoranPhoto, I'm not that good

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Caillean-Photography In reply to jo-i [2014-05-27 05:52:06 +0000 UTC]

I don't know ZoranPhoto, but you can always take a good picture by chance. Sometimes you have luck... But I agree, it's not easy taking pictures of cats...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

jo-i In reply to Caillean-Photography [2014-05-27 15:23:26 +0000 UTC]

ZoranPhoto I meant. Some of the very best cat photos I found here . That being said, our cats are often too nosy and find the camera more interesting than what they did until then. So it's quite tedious to get a good photo of them

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Caillean-Photography In reply to jo-i [2014-05-28 05:38:39 +0000 UTC]

Oh yes, there are some really nice cat photos. My cats usually look in the wrong direction when I want to take a photo. Right just in that moment.

Damned eerie, all things considered. The only ray of light shining through the dark clouds, and providing the daffodils the only nourishment they'll have for days, maybe even weeks. Could make some kind of survival horror story out of that...

Without a doubt, a special picture that's both fantastically done and has a startling creepiness to it as well. Not many photos can pull off both qualities so well. Keep up the great work!

jo-i In reply to AussieDidge [2013-07-03 09:18:03 +0000 UTC]

Thank you for the insightful comment and the kind opinion

Oh well, it's the early morning sun, but agreed, the low angle and thus lack of light on the ground can make it somewhat eerie (and the edit, of course ). I still have an alternative edit of my own lying around unsubmitted (because I wasn't satisfied with how The Watchers of the Sun turned out) that's a bit less desolate and bleak.

Fun fact: Those were the last warm days that year and a few days later the sunflowers were wilted. So maybe your analysis isn't too far off

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

AussieDidge In reply to jo-i [2013-07-05 01:10:38 +0000 UTC]

You're very much welcome. And wow, that takes a fair amount of effort for such a splendid picture. Did the photographer end up waking at the crack of dawn just to take the shot? (That's dedication... )

Damn, never thought I'd have made such a good analysis in the end. Those poor sunflowers, may the soil watch over them and breed them new lives again.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

jo-i In reply to AussieDidge [2013-07-05 05:08:20 +0000 UTC]

Well, the effort wasn't for the picture, mostly. I passed them on my way to work every day so that was just a side effect. I just noticed that the sun was nice and low over that field when I came up the hill, so I brought the camera

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

AussieDidge In reply to jo-i [2013-07-05 15:10:21 +0000 UTC]

In the end, it all came together to produce that wonderful shot. That and great behind-the-scenes work. You've done well finding the perfect angle to snap it and presented the entire thing well.
