Inspired by Tschaikovski's Nutcracker Ballet...I made a Spring version of the Sugar Plum fairy for now...for CHristmas I will illustrate another more Christmassy version!

This work gives me a little warm feeling inside because it reminds me of the drawings that were the color pencil packs I used to buy when I was a child.

Hi! So glad you like my work! I did the background by doing a light overall wash in blue and while still wet...adding thicker and darker drops of colour in the wet paint, blue at top and pink and purple tones down below. I also let some clean drops of water sprinkle on the surface to create textures and also use a bit of salt on damp areas to get crystal or sparkle effects effects. This background was very experimental.. i basically let the colours play and mix as they will... :-D Hope this helps a bit!
