A commission for Vangarthia of his character Nyone, who is probably the most vibrant tropical-looking creature I've done in a while!Β I originally intended getting this done for Christmas, but hey, it's still the holiday season, kinda, so it still counts

The toughest part of her pose was the subtle body language - I wanted her to look comfortable and at ease, like a natural relaxing position, not like she's posing, but still fulfill certain pose requirements asked by the client.Β I'm still not totally sure I pulled it off, but I'm glad it looks okay anyway

Yeah, I was quite fond of them myself o_oΒ I was worried all the greens would be overwhelmingly monotonic, but it actually worked out pretty okay, I think!

Conveniently placed modesty foliage goes back as far as medieval depictions of Adam and Eve. One artist I know did an illustration with modesty foliage and then did a second, unpublished, version of the identical scene viewed from a few feet to one side of the original.Β
This is is beautifully done. I used to visit the tropical frog habitat at the local science museum, and was amazed at how intense the colors were.

Ohmylanta, all of those plants. They're so convincing! The greens on the branches have a moistness to them, more like a heaviness I guess, that really gives the sense of humidity from the waterfall nearby. I love those couple of spindly plants on the left, but that one helping with modesty (haha XD) is so pretty and silky. You have some of the best accomplishments of atmospheres in your work. <3

Thank you very much, I really appreciate it!Β My husband is a big appreciator of natural things, particularly tree and plant life, and I've only ever really enjoyed painting natural environments, so they sorta combined into me putting extra care into stuff like that
