Bestiary artwork for Endless Realms , a D&D-like "pen and paper" fantasy RPG I'm working for.This started off as a regular gryphon, originally. The art director asked for a slightly less conventional bird/feline combination aside from "bald eagle/lion", and when I went (originally) with osprey/cheetah, I was told it didn't look gryphon-y enough, that gryphons needed to look muscular and imposing. So subbing in hoofs and a flowing tail, it became a hippogriff instead!

Hmm, i would habe liked that cheetah more, i guess. But nevermind, this is awesome as well!
You did a great job on the head and wings, i absolutely like them.
But i guess it would be better, if you had taken some other colors. that purple doesn't fit that good in my opinion. Also some feathers at the tail would be required for flying. I admit, that would only leave the hindlegs as Part of the horse/deer, but i would have liked it better. (Just my opinion, others might like this version more.

Thank you very much! And yeah, people don't think dangerous when it comes to some hooved animals, but hooves are not something to be messed with :b

Deer hooves are sharp enough to cut & slash, and horse hooves can also cut, but are more likely to break things - like bones, for instance. (And this includes mini horse hooves. Don't let the small size and adorableness fool you!)
Early in the time I was raising my fawn, I was sitting cross-legged in my papasan chair and she wanted to get into my lap. It was late spring, (quite warm,) and I was wearing shorts. Ow. Sharp little hooves on unprotected thighs. I put her off immediately, and discouraged her thereafter from even thinking about it, changing to sitting on the futon-couch and letting her curl up beside me instead of on me. Fortunately, she was not heavy enough to do more than scratch my skin, but... that was quite enough, thankyouverymuch!
