Just because I've had school experiences that vary wildly from other people's, I'm going focus on Winter Break here for a moment. I mean, I don't know if it's something every student has, or if it was just something I had. For me, in both my private and public school experience, there is a week long vacation that occurs sometime in the middle of February. Something, I guess, to break up the school year between Christmas vacation and Spring Break. Being February in canon right now, I felt it was something that should really be brought up. If I'm just stating the obvious here, please ignore this part of the blurb. But I just wanted to make sure we're on the same page.
As for the actual content of the page, I don't think I blame Rain for feeling the way she does either way. How about you? In her position, would you want to attempt to clear things up with them in the hopes that they can understand someday, or would you sever ties to avoid being hurt again... and potentially again?
Also, next update is the last of this chapter. And then I'm just going to take a short one week hiatus and jump right back in on Friday, April 4th. This wasn't originally something I wanted to do, but I just need a little break after all the crazy hard work I've been doing with Volume 2.

I feel bad for rain, it hard to come out to people, but it harder to come out and people reject you. it just hurt in my opinion. I think she should talk to her brother and sister b/c her brother seem like he trying to convince rain's sister. but even if it don't turn out well, she have fara, and her friends to sick by her side no matter what.

i finally came out to my parents! and they took it way to well for my comfort.... they arent to thrilled at the idea of me being all made up around them, to quote my father... "just please don't come through the door in a prom dress" although my mom said, even if you did, we would get over it because we will never stop loving you, or at the idea of me transitioning... but even to that they said, we will sit and talk it over and if you really decide to do that, we may not like it but we would much rather have you in our life than throw you to the wolves, just dont expect any miracles or us to be comfirtable with it right away. so... yeah 20 years of hiding, pain and fear of losing my family over.... over in 3 hours of talking

That's more or less how my parents were when I came out too. I remember that immense relief that came over me when I got off the phone with them and they didn't disown me. They're still really awkward about the whole thing and still struggling with my name and pronouns, but they'll do what they have to to keep me in their lives (which is great because I don't want to lose them either; my mom and dad are honestly my favorite people).
So know that you're not alone, and that you just took a great big step forward for yourself today. ^_^

Here in England, as well as the two week long breaks for Christmas and Easter, we also get half terms, which are one week breaks in between these, one in October, one in February, and one in may, then our summer holidays are mid-July until the beginning of September.

I don't think that I had a winter break for a while and then I suddenly had an extra week I did not have before. As for Rain I think that she should do it, but she needs to be careful about it and proceed with caution, but she does need to repair her relationship with them.

Your "winter break" was my college Spring Break. I went to college in New York, and our Spring Break was the end of February, early March. When I was a kid in high school, middle school, etc, Winter Break meant the time around Christmas and New Years. Spring Break was Easter.

It's pretty pointless, seeing as I live in Europe, but we did have something named Winter Break (well, if you translate it to English, that is). It was only in primary education, though, so we'd not have it by Rain's age. D:
As for Rain's dilemma: I'm not sure what I would do. I'd likely hide and be too scared to talk to them, but I think Rain should do what she is ready to do and what she thinks she can overcome. If her family really do want to mend things, they'll understand if she is not quite ready yet. Hopefully.

My "Winter Break" is actually called "Spring Break" here and usually happens the second or third week of March. In fact tomorrow is the resumption of classes. For years the various school admins would get all pissy and deliberately schedule different weeks for spring break. But somebody kicked some sense into them and now it's pretty unified state-wide. Both major state universities break the same week and many local school districts have followed suit. The professors at the unis got tired of having their kids off a different week than them and saner heads decided to quit the petty fighting and start cooperating. Major Shock!!
Rain definitely needs to proceed at a pace that's best for her. Letting her parents decide the date is just a step in them trying to take control over her again. Perhaps when she is older and is more confident in herself she may decide she would talk to them, but not before. After my partner was killed they tried to get me to come home. But they let slip that under their roof I'd have to stop this silly lesbian nonsense, oh and start coming to church because there were people there who were experienced in getting people like me back on the straight path. I didn't go, I was grieving but not stupid, and I was almost 21 so there was no way they could compel me

I've never even heard of a break in February. I've always had Winter Break that's from Just before Christmas through to New Years, then Spring Break is Holy Thursday through the Monday after Easter Sunday. There's never anything in between.

Yeah school's don't take a week in February in Cali. Normally that week comes in March or April. It used to be called Easter week because it fell around the time Easter and Passover happen, but it now it's called Spring Recess because bitchy atheists took offense.
I wish I could talk to my family about this at all. They still don't know, I tried to tell my mom when my birthday came 'round. But I was just too scared... I'm pretty much expecting a poor reaction, but I need at least my mom to be there for me... I love my mom, but she can be...(beat)...difficult...at times.

Might be worth mentioning that Cali observes both Washington's Birthday and Lincoln's Birthday rather simply President's Day. So in kids get a very nice spread of days where you don't have to be at child prison school.

I'm cisgender and heterosexual (ain't that a mouthful?), so I don't know if I have the right to say anything. But if I had to, I'd say that she should still meet them. THe fact that Aiken took the initiative on this should be enough to let her know that Aiken at least wants to repair their relationship. Kellen and Aiken clearly care about their baby sibling very much.

For where I am, through elementary school and high school we had a break in March, but when I started college, there was a one week break every semester, so for the winter semester, the break was in February and the week it took place in depended on which college or university you went to.
I feel like most everyone wants to keep ties to their family and I guess if I was in Rain's place I would want to try to reconnect with them (this coming from someone who avoids his brother and feels closer to friends then I am with my to my own family and my family is normal, ya I'm a bigot that way). I think Rain might need some support if she has a visit with Aiken and Kellen, possibly with Fara or some friends (Jessica might not be the best choice to tag along to that visit, things might get more emotional). And I bet if Emily asks, they could easily say that the visit is about Rain coming out as being a lesbian.
I think I never expected Rain to be so scared of a meeting with her siblings, but I guess with the way Aiken and Kellen took the news of her being Trans, it is probably pretty close to being disowned, and I have no idea what that is like.

I think it's a good thing for Rain to have at least taken the phone call. Beyond that, she should definitely take her time. If she's ready and she has a good escape plan if she needs to politely excuse herself from the table or something like that, then cool, a meeting could be handy. But, yeah, I can totally feel for her, whatever decision she makes.
End of February break? Sheesh, I would have LOVED that as a kid. Our winter break was at the semester for a couple weeks around the holidays. Then, it was a long stretch between MLK day and spring break for days off usually.

I'm not a fan of religion at all either although I'm letting some Mormons try to convert me for fun. They are never ever turning an atheist like me XD Being on Seville during Easter is a kind of torture, you can't set foot on the city centre with all the procession stuff.

winter break up here is actually at the end of February. other than that, this should be interesting to see where this goes. Rain should do it, Aiken is at least trying at this point. he wants to understand, so Rain should help him do just that
