Who doesn't enjoy a hot cup of coffee, or tea, with a great book? Commissioned piece for a cafe opening this summer in the UK. This one ended up being MUCH more complicated than I though. Domes are hard to create with paper...So when I was contacted to do this one I was really excited. When I first started doing these, I sketched out a few pages of sculptures I thought would be cool. A coffee cup was one of them. I'm a little addicted. I never got around to it, but this was the perfect excuse! The woman opening the shop is a Robert Louis Stevenson fan. Her logo for the cafe was a coffee cup made of quotes from different books, a lot of them Stevenson's. I modeled the sculpture after her logo, incorporating the quotes that I could. It's built off of "A Child's Garden of Verses", another book she mentioned.

I am taking an art project in 4H which requires us to do one BIG final piece of our choice. I have been attempting to make a paper sculpture. So far I have master making paper roses and what not. I just wanted to let you know that your art was one of the HUGE reasons that I had decided to attempt to make a book sculpture of any sort! Thank you so much!

I think it's a fairly popular children's book. I had never heard of it before the request but when I spoke to the woman at the book shop she knew exactly what I meant. Picked up an extra copy and my son loves it, you just need to we word a few lines. Some words don't have the same meaning as they used to lol.
