I think this is my best version yet! I took the original Palm Tree drawing and colored and added the background using SAI 1.1. I avoided sunsets and did clouds instead...Related content

Have you colored by hand before? As an art teacher i really dislike my students learning using digital programs before they learn in the traditional medium... But i am strict so please don't mind me.
I would like to give you some advice- Start your images in black and white. Learn how to use your greys as an overall coloring format so you can figure out the proper lighting. Once you learn how to use grey correctly you can then begin using contrasting white and blacks in a new way, work on interesting line perspective and line technique. Then you should begin to use color.

5.0 was a progression that started with a pencil drawing, then colored pencils, then I experimented with digital...they all started from the original drawing in my gallery simply called Palm tree.

Thanks! Not very long... I'm doing online tutorials to learn how to draw, and have been experimenting with various photoshp/illustrator programs. SAI has been the best and easiest so far!

*oops...wasn't necessary... SAI lets you paint on top of an area previously painted...
