Love the classic style you got here. You'd be a great fit for the fan produced Sea3on comic series.

Nice, looks very true to her original design, but a bit modernized too. Nice art.

I am very glad that you did go with her season 2 head to body proportions because Sally in SatAm Season one was so head heavy even by sonic standards that I always disliked her design (even if I thing she was as a Character better in Season 1 because Season 2 pretty much turned her into a creators pet that could hardly fail anymore, constantly showed sonic up, became such an active fighter and an intellectual that she almost completely replaced Rotor and Bunny and so one)

Sega still owns the rights to the Freedom Fighters.Β Its up to them and the staff at IDW to decide to bring them back.Β As for SatAM, theres a 3rd season in the works.Β www.patreon.com/sea3on

That's exactly why they will never see the light of day again outside of fan works or projects like the one at the patreon.
I would love so dearly to eat my own words on this, but I just don't see it happening unless SEGA actively tries to revive them in some way. They sorely missed their chance to do so with Sonic BOOM too when the show was still a thing, despite the game's lack of popularity, as Sally and the gang were ripe for use seeing as they would be familiar to American audiences from the 90s.

As long as Ian Flynn is writing for IDW Sonic, the Freedom Fighters will be dormant since he has a biased towards them, especially Sally.Β

Beau-Skunk In reply to rickychip [2020-04-10 12:50:49 +0000 UTC]
That's not true, as during his run on Archie, Ian Flynn used the SatA.M. Freedom Fighters, (especially Sally) very frequently, as much as the game characters.
I know, because I have almost every Archie issue he wrote sense he started on #160 in 2006.
In fact, ironically, SatA.M./Sally-hater fans used to accuse him of being biased FOR the SatA.M. characters, accused him of being a "SonSal" fanboy, and tried to claim he was biased against the game characters, the opposite of what you claim. So which is he, guys?
Also, Ian said he is a SatA.M. fan, and wanted to preserve/keep them in Archie, so it's not his fault they're not in the IDW series. (A comic writer isn't "God" of the Sonic comic, they can't do whatever they want, the editors have just as much say over the story, and license holder like Sega has more say-so on what's allowed in the series. After the Penders legal battles, Sega has probably become paranoid to use the American cartoon Sonic characters, in fear of more legal issues.)
From my experiences around Ian, on his message board, and stuff, I don't buy that he suddenly woke up, and decided, "I'm ganna get rid of them for no reason!"
That's just unrealistic, and people upset over the IDW reboot are just using him as a scapegoat to blame.

which is rediculous the freedom fighters shouldve been a very consistent thing..
even to make canon...

I emphatically agree.Β Its a topic Ive been fighting with Sonic fans for nearly 20 years.Β But the long time argument among certain Sonic fans is that the Freedom Fighters aren't cannon cause they never appeared in the games, even though Sally predates Amy and even Knuckles.Β And no Sonic Spinball doesnt count cause those were bonus stage cameos. Β Β
The other factor is that the wrong people have been handling Sonic for 20 years.Β When Sonic Adventure launched, Sega of Japan took control of the franchise and made their japanese lore canon globally, hence why Robotnik was called Eggman.Β
Then you have Ken Penders who screwed over Ben Hurst in getting a SatAM movie made in 2002 in addition to the other embarrassing F-ups he caused including that lawsuit BS which wiped out 200 Archie characters that had 20 years of development.Β Once Sonic was transported to Rebootland, I was done.Β The Freedom Fighters personalities were dumb down, the character designs looked bland and generic.Β It just wasnt the same anymore and it was the catalyst that sparked how IDW handles Sonic.
Now, you have Sega with an identity crisis since Sega of America is back in charge, but with Sega of Japan mandates.Β Lastly, you have Flynn who hates the Freedom Fighters and literally wants Sally dead as evidence from his fanfiction and hinted by his public statements of her being a relic of the past that has no purpose anymore.Β
Its just a string of horrible people that dont understand their fans or even their damn character.Β Its why the IDW comics are garbage.Β Theyre so much more restrictive to where the characters arent allowed to have development.Β And this whole push for Tangle and Whisper is just insulting.Β The Freedom Fighters have been around for 25 years and they've NEVER had merch licensed by Sega (excluding the SegaWorld Sally merch that was ONLY in Australia from 1997-2000).Β Tangle and Whisper show up for ONE YEAR and they get merch like tshirts and such.Β Its like they wanna sweep everything involving Archie/SatAM under the rug and its infuriating to those who grew up with that media.Β
Anyway, the only solution at this point is to have IDW hire a new writer who actually cares about Sonic AND the fans. On top of that, Sonic fans need to convince Sega that SatAM/Archie are still beloved by the community and by intentionally ignoring that alienates a huge chuck of the fanbase which is unprofessional and cruel.Β Its like saying we wasted our time following the Freedom Fighters all these years cause they dont matter anymore.Β Such a slap to the face.Β
Imagine if Marvel/Disney removed The Avengers from canon cause they just didnt think those characters mattered anymore.Β And yes the Freedom Fighters ARE the Avengers of the Sonic universe.Β The ineptitude from Sega, IDW, and even the fanbase continues to perplex me.Β
