I do like this scene for Nic. She seemsΒ melancholy.
And as I stated earlier in the comments, in theΒ The Complete Sonic Comic Encyclopedia, they made Nic's ultimate fate ambiguous, with rumors of herΒ either being retired or killed by Nack.
Ian initially wanted to off Nic, which was due to trying to clean house (reduce the amount of characters), but ultimately let her stay when he discovered that there was fans that wanted to see more of her.
