Seriously though, I think removing her is detrimental to a rewrite rather than helpful. It's honestly an admission of defeat when it comes to writing her character. I mean, if you want to make 06 better with a rewrite, why can't you make Elise better with a rewrite? It's just skipping over a difficult task instead of rolling up your sleeves and giving it your all. :/

Also, in the Archie comics her species is Human/Overlander, implying that one can both.Β Possibly due to cross hybridization?Β In case you don't know what an Overlander is, they're a race of barbaric human mutants.

I remember Sonic 06 used to be my favorite of the franchise growing up (due to glitches mostly), I really don't think the writing was that bad, and Elise was a pretty cool character with her abilities in the game. I mean I do remember the part where Elise kisses Sonic was an issue but Elise and the storyline were honestly find, but appearantly they officially made the events of 06 self-cancelling and erased from canon. I think it could have had potential in the comics personally.Β

It's just easier to write out a clearly terrible character instead of just fixing them. Β Besides, whoever it was who wrote her out already had a lot on their plate trying to fix that god awful story Sonic 06 had.

I mean, she's pretty core to said story, but what one chooses to focus on in a fix is their prerogative. I'm not gonna hate of the effort.

But one can easily write it so the Flames of Solaris are found elsewhere. Β The fact that they're sealed inside of Elise and with how poorly written Elise is as a character, she's not even a character at this point. Β She's a plot mcguffen. Β In terms of characters, Mephiles and Silver at least try to add to the god awful story. Β Elise does not.

Not when the plot (and a stage - Sonic's version of Dusty Desert) is entirely dependant on them existing, it's not.
Writing her out would mean having to completely rebuild the plot AND reworking that Stage's gimmicks, pathing and enemy layout to work with Sonic alone.
You might as well try rewriting the entire series without Sonic and Eggman.

You don't win an argument by picking and choosing parts of the message. That just makes you look as stupid as those people you're mocking in your signature.
You can't remove Sonic's version of the Dusty Dunes stage because it's the only version of that stage that's actually worth playing (Silver's is actually considered the absolute worst stage in the game) - if you removed the glitches from the game, it might actually dip into fun with it's unique gimmick thanks to Elise's power.
You can't just start the entire plot over because then what the Hell's the point of remaking the game? The time would be better spent making something new.
Therefore Elise's spot in the plot has to exist - and it can't be a character who existed in the games prior to 06, like Blaze or Amy, because that would cause a bigger plot hole than was already there. So your choice is either Elise, or using a character who wasn't a game character. Aaand, as much as I'd like to see Sally in a game, I'd rather she not be used in Elise's place, as besides being red-haired Princesses, they've really got nothing in common (heck, since Elise's father was a Duke, she's technically a Duchess, but Princess just sounds better, I guess).
