OK! So here it goes.
I the days of film I would have to shoot film, process it, make contact sheets, then decide the paper, the chemicals, and make a print. Then the real work starts: I had to decide what contrast number filter I should use, the type of parer , what to dodge, what to burn, and for how long.
In the end eventually I would end up with a print that did what I wanted. Sometimes hours of work went into making one single print.
In the digital era the same process apples, but the tools have changed and with it approach as well.
Today the dark room is Adobe.
I wanted the seagull to glow in its beautiful radiance. So I took pictures of the bird while the boat kept going and an assistant kept throwing fish guts and heads overboard to attract them. I picked a clear blue north sky and exposed for the white of the bird.
This made the blue sky saturated and underexposed by about 1.5/2 F-stops.
Then waited for a sky with clouds that would complement what I had in mind.
With adobe I was able to separate the seagull from the blue sky and past it over the preselected cloudy sky.
Then, it was just a matter of equalizing the two images and composing the bird with the light in the sky to offer the most harmonious arrangement.

By the way 5 other people have selected this picture already but unfortunately most of them do not take the time to comment on the work... but that is the nature of life. The river runs not on the number of horses that need to drink, it just runs...
Hope this helps!
Thanks for your wonderful comments. Makes it all worth and makes up for the easy takers, may the spirit of the muses inspire them too.[link]
