I have mixed feelings about the background. It looks a little uncoordinated to me. I feel like it should either be simpler to emphasize its expansiveness or busier to give a more complete sense that this is a library. I really like the foreground elements. The characters and the foreground stairs are beautifully done, with a surprisingly strong illusion of depth. The birds are nice, although the blur makes it hard for me to look at them closely.
