IbelinArabians [2009-07-08 02:52:36 +0000 UTC]
Show Name: Whirls Twirls and Swirls
Nickname: Twirl
Breed: Otherworldly Crabbet Arabian
Bloodline: starter, near descendent of Skowronek
Sex: Mare
Age: 8
Personallity: high-strung, light of foot, quick under saddle, and tends to be a mix of spazzy/playful
History: one of the last few who were trained to do tricks at the Kellogg Arabian Ranch in southern California before coming to Joelie's sale lots. she's lovable with everyone so no one has harmed her.
Short story: Rafica sat in her 2500 Dodge truck, tapping her pen against her clipboard in thought. She really shouldn't be out buying more horses, considering she had...one...two...three, maybe four?...shipments due within the next two weeks. But she'd been given a notification from Joelie that there were more horses for sale, some Arabs as well. Rafica shrugged and stepped out of her truck, clipboard in hand, and walked down to the sales barns. There were a few familiar faces, though most of them were new. One head kept flicking in and out now and then. A white face, with grey and red markings. Rafica checked the stats on the horse's chart, deducing that she was an Otherworldly Crabbet Arabian mare, young and very trainable. The mare would come up to Rafica, snort in her face, and prance off to the other end of the stall, and snort again. Her eyes were bright and intelligent, ears pricked, silly. Rafica smiled and laughed, marked down the mare's name, and kept looking through the barn.
HARPG: yep^^
Why do you want this horse?: i need different-colored Arabians to bring into my herd with good body types to retain the years of breeding. her being line-bred to Skowronek like the rest of my mares and stallions makes her even more perfect for my herd.
Why do you deserve this horse?: idk....i love Arabians and need more of them? lolz!

osht
Joelie these are downright gorgeous. You're amazing.
Pick a card is absolutely gorgeous!
And Flag is so studly!
Imma try out for Flaggie! cx
Show Name: The Broken Flag
Nickname: Flag
Breed: Harlequine CL
Bloodline: Starter (Really gonna try to breed him as much as possible, but only with the most gorgeous mares of course, hahah ;D)
Sex: Male (Stallion)
Age: 7
Personallity: Most would describe Flag as "insane", "unbelievable", or most often, "out of control". But I like the word outspoken more. Though he is pretty crazy, he's extremely obedient. Patient? Not so much, but he's very talented in his work and his strong, sturdy build allows him to take hard falls and collisions with other horses without a problem.
History: Flag was born in a very warm climate on a farm that specialized in harlequines. He was sold around the age of 2 years to another farm, and then again at 3. This happened about 4 more times, nobody could take care of him because he was so crazy and impatient, he just wouldn't sit still! He was then sold to Wolfish, who lived in a cooler climate without the blazing hot sun of the desert. Strangely she had no problems with Flag, besides the time when he ran through the stables' fence to chase after one of the dogs that lived there. Most of the previous owners believe his wild ways were because of his bloodlines, which are unknown to Wolfish and 2 or 3 of the previous owners, but others think it was something else. Wolfish thought maybe it was the conditions he lived in, but she'd never know.
Short story: Wolfish brought World at War, her favorite harlequine stallion of her own, to a horse event in England. It was a horse sale, and Wolfish knew Joelie would be there with some harlequines. Wolfish had just brought War to watch the other horses and she wanted to take him somewhere besides the stables anyway.
The horses walked out and the people in the crowd applauded. Wolfish quickly found Joelie and her horses. One single harlequine immediately caught her eye, it was a CL stallion, and he carried a decorative flag in his mouth. Wolfish smiled and pet War happily.
The show soon ended and Wolfish caught Joelie with her horses right afterward. "Hey," she smiled in greeting. "How much do you want for that stallion there?" she pointed to the one with the flag in it's mouth. "Oh, Flag? How much are you willing to pay?" Joelie smiled back. Wolfish laughed and pulled out a check, quickly scribbling down the information. "Will this do?" she handed it to Joelie, grinning. Joelie took the check and read it, "Yes, it will," she said almost laughing, obviously happy with the amount, and handed the rope of Flag's lead to Wolfish. "That's Joelie, I'll take good care of him!" Wolfish waved goodbye as she walked out with her two favorite harlequine stallions.
HARPG: Of course! And I know I'm not supposed to be taking in any more stallions (because I have too many and not enough mares) but look at this guy! 8'D (And well, he definitely looks like a guy to me hahah)
Why do you want this horse?: Oh god! Because he's the studliest harlequine I've ever seen! And for him to be in my stables, that would be a miracle. xD I'd definitely make him feel at home and introduce him to a few mares of course. ;]
Why do you deserve this horse?: Because I'll try my best to keep him active and I'll love him forevahs! :0

Omg. I am in love with thunder.
Show Name: Thunder Under Water
Nickname: Thunder, Ocean, Lake
Breed: Did you have a breed?
Bloodline:N/A
Sex: Male
Age:9
Personality: Always trying to make the mares laugh. He doesnt like to be around the stallions though.
History/Short story: Thunder galloped over the land. His wild mane flowing behind him with elegance, and grace, his hooves barley touching the softness of the moor. It was his favorite place to be during a storm. The trees would reach out and try to grab you, but you would just gallop away, whinnying with laughter. You would dash past a lightning bolt, just dancing out of the way of death.
All that changed one day.
Thunder galloped forward, ears pricked and listening to the moor sounds. A faint laughing was heard, but he paid no attention to it. Something darted past him. He stopped and whirled around. More laughter. A small human stepped out from around a bush. She was no taller than his ankle, and her lavender eyes were tilted. She giggled and danced about him. His eyes were fixed onto this dancing creature.
'This could be no human...' He thought. He followed the dancing creature over the moor. She sang a wonderful tune, and Thunder started to prance to it. Soon, they were on a cliff side. The wind blew furiously, and lightning struck the ground. The little person sang louder, and more furiously then she had before. Thunder reared up, and soon he was falling, falling over the edge of the cliff. Then it hit him. The moor folk. They had tricked him. Had tricked him into going off the edge. Laughter was heard from the cliff.
Sure death was at the bottom of this cliff. Rocks and rapids. He closed his eyes and braced himself for the end. As he hit the water, thunder crackled far away. Lightning struck the water.
thunder soon washed ashore. He was battered, but not hurt permanently.
'Thats impossible!' he thought. He looked at his once white coat, now strewn with markings of the folk. (will finish later)
HARPG:YESH!
Why do you want this horse?: he would be awesome for harpg and make a great stud.
Plus, he'll be part of my comic.
Why do you deserve this horse?: Because I think I could give him a good home. And I might get a little behind on my submitting, but he'll be drawn daily on paper and I'll scan those.
I gotta finish the story still.

you're trying to kill me with your sexy designs aren't you? XD i've fallen in love with thunder under water ^^ just wondering is he dark grey instead of black?
Show Name: Thunder Under Water
Nickname: Storm
Gender: Male
Breed: Harlequine CL
Age: 10 Years
Personallity: Storm is a 'act first face the consequences later' type of stallion, he hates being stabled yet he doesn't get on with any of the stallions at the ranch so he's put out with the Forsaken herd, he loves a good challenge and will usually start fights with the ranch stallions which is why he's with the herd. Once someone gains his trust you'll find that he's a loyal stallion that will do everything to make sure no one he cares for gets hurt.
Bloodline: None
History: Storm was born and raised in the wild and once old enough he set on his own to find his own herd but was captured at 2 years old and taken to auction and up until his 5th year he went in and out of auction because whoever brought him usually put him up for sale after a week or two of having him because Storm either escaped or attacked his handlers. He soon found a home during his last auction though.
Short story:
Miss Karen groaned at the sound of her phone going off, someone had the nerve to ring her at 5am! Finally sitting up and reaching for her phone she answered it "Urgh, hello?" Instantly the owner of Fire Wolf Ranch seemed to wake up "Hell yes! We'll meet you at the top of the drive" Putting her phone down Miss Karen quickly washed up and got dressed. Coming out of her room she went down the hallway and grinned looking at the two doors either side of her. One was Ben's and the other belonged to her brotherly figure Ryan "Let's wake them up".
20 minutes later and everyone was in the horse box going down the drive Miss Karen was driving whilst Ben and Ryan sat there pouting somewhat with damp hair, Ben was about to say something when they spotted the Dancing Skye horse box at the top of the drive Joelie had a grin on her face whilst poor Brian still looked half asleep "Sorry for waking you up but if we want to see everything the auctions got then we have to go now" Joelie called over to Karen who nodded smiling "It was fun waking these two up so don't worry about it" Both women laughed while the men just sat there sulking as they drove to the auctions.
Once the women had parked their lorries everyone got out and started to look around at the horses, Ryan had seen one he'd like but decided to wait till he'd seen the rest of the horses. Leading the group were Miss Joelie and Miss Karen who soon stopped walking as they saw a dealer they knew all too well "Well well if it isn't Pierre, what poor souls have you brought to sell off this time?" Miss Karen wasn't found of this dealer as he'd try to sell people dangerous horses that were usually doped up so they'd seem harmless "Ah! Miss Karen and Miss Joelie! I can assure you that these horses are perfectly sane" Karen had tuned the seller out as she looked at one of the stallions that he had. He was tall with a filthy coat and looked a little under weight yet as their eyes met Karen smiled looking towards Joelie before her eyes fixed onto Pierre "What's known about this stallion?" Karen asked him calmly "Ah, he's been back and forth. You wouldn't want him Miss Karen, he's from the wild. This is his final time in the auction, if I get him back then he'll be destroyed" The glare the seller got from both women frightened him, he'd forgotten that he shouldn't mention horses being destroyed around them "What breed is he? I know he's got a TB build to him" "Harlequine CL miss" Karen just nodded as she petted the stallion who nuzzled her hand in response "Price?" Pierre knew what was coming "Β£1100 miss Karen" Karen motioned for Ryan to bring the horse box round "Β£850, he needs a lot of work to get him to what he should be" Joelie smiled at her friend as Pierre seemed to debate the offer before he held his hand out "Deal".
With the stallion loaded up and the dealer paid Karen turned to miss Joelie with a smile "Let's go find you something, I'm paying" Karen started to walk ahead leaving Joelie looking at her back, she'd never get that older woman "Ah! Karen! You're not buying me anything! I have my own money" Ben and Brian just looked at each other as the girls ran off "Women".
HARPG: Yesh!
Why do you want this horse?: He's sexy and I know I said no more harles till I get more black but I couldn't resist him. Also he'll be part of the Forsaken herd.
Why do you deserve this horse?: Didn't we go over this already? I know I haven't drawn like nearly every single horse I've gotten from you yet but since it's summer I finally can and I promise I'll take care of this guy because he's too sexy not to draw ^.^

All of them have such beautiful designs! I think I wanna try for Pick a Card though. He's so gorgeous!
Show Name: Pick a card, any card
Nickname: Casino
Breed: Harlequine
Bloodline: none (starter)
Sex: Stallion
Age: 10
Personallity: Very smart, but can be a goofball sometimes. If he decides there's something he doesn't want to do, there's no way you can make him. sometimes doesn't want to be messed with, but is usually very sweet and kind. very loyal and takes great care of his rider. not very fond of children, but will tolerate them if he must.
History: Pick a Card was originally kept in a backstage stall in the a casino/hotel in Vegas as part of a magicians act. He was well loved there, but unfortunately, he was not able to get out very often and thus would pace his stall endlessly, often neighing loudly to be let out. the guests were complaining about the whinnying, so the magician was forced to choose between his job and Pick a Card.
Short story: Seven's eyes stared in wonder at the big casino/hotel. She'd never been to Las Vegas before, though she;d heard stories about endless days and nights of gambling and partying and magic shows. She couldn't wait to dump her things in her hotel room and become part of the night life. Of course she missed her stables and all of her horses, but she'd left them in capable hands, with someone she was certain could handle anything that would come up. AS she waited for the women at the front desk to get her room key, she flipped through a pamphlet about the attractions in the hotel. Her eyes fell immediately on an advertisement for a magic show that ran nightly. Though the large, bold lettering was quite eye-catching, what she was really looking at was the beautiful Harlequine stallion rearing on the stage. "Oh." She breathed, eyes wide in wonder. Such a captivating horse! What was he doing in Las Vegas?
"Beautiful, isn't he?" The woman at the desk said, a smile on her face, "It's really too bad his owner has to sell him."
Seven nodded, still in aw of the magnificent horse. "Sell him?" she asked, sounding almost as if in a trance.
"Yes," the woman sighed. "There have been so many complaints about the noise he makes. It's not really his fault though, I would cause a ruckus too, if I was locked up all the time."
Seven nodded and looked up, finally coming to her senses. "Would you be so kind as to point me in the direction of his owner? I'd love to talk to him."
The woman's smile grew. "I can give a pass for backstage. You're planning on going to the show, yes?"
Seven nodded. "Of course!"
The woman reached under the desk and pulled out a ticket and a pass. "There you are, oh and here's your room key." She passed them across the desk. "After the show, you can go backstage and talk to the magician about the price he's asking."
Seven grinned brightly. "Thank you so much!" She took the ticket, the pass, and the key. As she made her way toward the elevators, the woman yelled from the desk "I hope you can give him a good home!"
Seven smiled to herself. "So do I."
HARPG: Yes
Why do you want this horse?: You gave him such a beautiful design, and I can see that you put a lot of thought into it! To me, he looks so proud and energetic.
Why do you deserve this horse?: Oh gosh, um Well, I think that I could give him and his future babies a good and caring home. I do get behind on my scanning and posting, but I always try to give all of my horses the attentions they deserve (whether it ends up getting posted or not ) I would be proud to have him in my stables.

I don't know if I'm special enough ^^ but I'd like to try for The Broken Flag
Show Name: The Broken Flag
Nickname: Flag
Breed: Did you have a specified breed?
Sex: Male
Age: 14
Personality:
Pre-War
Beautiful even temperament, occasionally cheeky and needing a reminder of who is boss.
During War
Obedient and highly disciplined, sensitive to aids and when ridden felt like he listened to your thoughts rather than your aids.
Post War - Recovery
Sullen and morose, tense except during and after nightmares where he would be wild eyed and violent, screaming, rearing, kicking, seem to be in a different world as if he couldn't see you.
Now
He is still quiet but he is more relaxed. His nightmares are less violent and he recognizes you are trying to help more quickly. He is okay working with flat work and dressage that requires concentration.
History/Short story: Although horses have been replaced by armored vehicles and tanks for war, in some places horses were and are still being used in battle. During the Ivorian Civil War in a small country in Africa called Cote d'Ivoire; that started in 2002 and the fighting had mostly ended by 2004, horses were used in conflict with many of them killed from gunshot wounds, land mines or broken legs. One of the horses that fought was The Broken Flag he had been owned by a rich man in the country before he was stolen by rebels who need horses to ride and fight.
Flag was already well trained although he was lacking in obedience, however through harsh training given to the horses and men Flag soon became highly disciplined. Although the loud noises of battle were freighting even to full grown men, Flag rode into battle fearlessly concentrating only on the commands of his rider and the objectives at hand.
Flag experiences the horrors of war but he was ridden so hard everyday he barely had time to reflect on the horrors he saw as he fell into exhausted sleep every night.
Whether it was luck, skill or a mixture of the two, Flag was never seriously injured in these skirmishes.
Through the war, Flag became close friends with another horse called Catalyst of Conflict or Connie for short. Despite her sweet nickname Connie was just as tough as Flag during the war even though many other horses suffered horrible break downs where they would have to be shot before they killed themselves and others.
It was coming up to the last battle, where if they succeeded the war would be over.
Connie and Flag charged with more determination than before, they wanted to be freed of a war horse's life so badly. Connie raced ahead of Flag to scatter a group of soldiers when she triggered a land mine. The blast was immense, Flag felt the heat and power and was blown backwards, throwing his rider and landing hard on his side. Flag suffered shrapnel to his legs, neck and face. He was in complete shock, he had just seen his friend blown to pieces in front of his eyes, when he was so sure that he and Connie would be safe; be free.
The battle finished and the rebels left Flag to die; after all he had done for them. Fortunately for Flag a french solider came to his aid and he was taken with the government troops back to their base, where he was treated. Although over the next few months Flag's physical health restored, leaving only black scars on his face, his mental state was in disarray. Since Connie's death, Flag withdrew inside himself and nothing the soldiers did would provoke a response from him. He ate little and at night he would suffer from nightmares, and wake screaming violently, shaking uncontrollable and drenched in sweat. The vet said he was suffering from a equine case of 'shell-shock' a form of post-traumatic stress.
Flag was sent to France, then to America where horse whispers and vets tried to treat him and help him recover. It seemed like it would be kinder to put him out of his misery, when he saw through the house windows a horse competing show jumping on television; the horse looked exactly like Connie. The handlers rang up the owners of the 'Connie-look-a-like' and told them of Flag's situation. It just so happened that Connie's look a like belonged to us. We agreed to take Flag and continue to help him recover. When he arrived we had our 'Connie-look-a-like' whose name is Ionia waiting to greet him. Fortunately Ionia liked Flag straight away and it was a miracle how quickly Flag transformed. We are still working on ridding him completely of his night mares but he has finally worked his way out of his shell.
HARPG: Yes
Why do you want this horse? Because his design is very beautiful and I think that his name and design suit the story I've written.
Why do you deserve this horse?: I donβt know if I do I admit I am behind on my art but his design is so amazing Iβd be honored for βThe Broken Flagβ to be a part of Inglenook Stables.
