The thing is, since I'm determined to try just about every non-incest het ship I can think of for this show, I decided to better code this via line thickness---the thickest lines being ships I really like/that are part of my "personal canon," with medium and almost invisible lines for other pairings that I like or am intrigued by.

I don't think I can go through all of them, but the high notes:

(Thickest Lines)

Keef/Gaz: My favorite pairing, because it's bizarre and hilarious. Keef and Gaz are total opposites: he's always happy and wants to be bestest friends with everybody, and Gaz is always scowling and wishing everyone would just go away. Isn't it really easy to imagine him being insane enough to have a crush on her, though? A lot of people laugh at that idea and say, "Ha! She'd kill him," but the thing is, she can't---Keef is unstoppable and unkillable, even when Zim and Dib blow him up he magically reassembles! He'll just keep wearing away at her wall of anger until eventually it must crumble.

Dib/Gretchen: My main ship for Dib. It's the closest thing IZ has to a normal pairing, and it's sort of a sweet idea, isn't it? Though of course it would be easier if she had a bit more character development. (Or if there weren't episodes when she was laughing at him along with everyone else.)

Skoodge/Tak: Because they're both incredibly competent Irken Invaders who were cheated out of their proper glory, but otherwise opposite in terms of personality---Tak would love to order people around, and Skoodge would gladly do whatever she says.

Zim/Tenn: Thickest line, but green? Yeah; nobody else seems to go really well with Zim, but if I have to, I pair them. Still, we know next to nothing about her, so it's hard to really know how well that would work.

(Other Pairings)

Dib/Tak: My favorite of the actually-popular pairings, because their personalities go together well. Still, they're both too dedicated to their jobs; it's hard to imagine them actually hooking up. I like to imagine that Dib sort of has a crush on her, though, or rather, her "human" form, and has to constantly remind himself that no, dang it, she's evil!

Zim/Tak: Sort of like DATR, it could be interesting if it happened, but...well, she spent fifty years cleaning up a dirt-planet because of him, and she sees him as an incompetent fool. I really don't see it happening.

Zim/Ms. Bitters: Cracky? Yes. But come on, they have so much in common. We could call it Doomshipping! But yeah, it's crack, and weird, and should not be. And yet, I sort of want it to.

Dib/Zita: By "green" I mean I go back and forth about whether this sort of fits or whether or not I just hate Zita for constantly teasing him with the other skool kids, especially since she sometimes seems to sort of "lead" it.

Keef/Tak: Basically the same personality scheme as Skoodge/Tak. Also, the maker of this meme basically got me into crack pairings by writing a REALLY good fic for this couple.

Keef/Gretchen: If I write a Dib/Tak, Zim/Gaz fic, assume these two hooked up.

Gaz/Membrane: Okay, see how the blue line has a sort of grayness in the middle? That's because, while this pairing does disturb me, I can sort of see it in a creepy, incestuous way: they're both weird people and never really show much affection to anyone but each other. I think they'll eventually get a chapter of "MORE IZ Pairings ," but if so, it will be written to reflect how wrong it is, don't worry.

Dib/Ms. Bitters: ...It's a really weird fic idea I have. Will probably be a "MORE IZ Pairing" chapter if nothing else. Somehow not actually as you'd think.
