This was my first card for Magic the Gathering. Done back in 2016 with Mark Winters as the art director. Such a good card and a promo to start my relationship with WotC. I was so excited and shocked that they sent me a character for my first piece. I was anticipating an artifact so it really felt like they were telling me they believed in me. Felt really good. It also came at a time when I really didn't think I would ever get to that level of client and this represented a jump in pay rate for illustration work that was x2.5. It was just a lifesaver. If you don't know my work, these days I use Paintstorm Studio or traditional oils. I think with this one I had maybe just started messing with Paintstorm Studio.
