Cool! Β The silhouette of face looks a bit like his movie version's face.

The original Diaclone toys didn't have a head because they were supposed to be mech-suits controlled by little humanoid figures which sat in the seat in both modes. It was cheaper and easier in 1984 to add a sticker than to commission a mold change to an existing 1982 design from Takara, particularly for a toy line which was just starting out and had no guarantees of lasting more than a single season.

Ah, I think I recall hearing that somewhere. Is that why Grimlock has a seat on his back? I think little figures were intended to fit in Prime's cab too.

Yeah, I've got the third party add-on heads for Ratchet and Ironhide.Β They're pretty cool and their face resemble their G1 cartoon designs.

I left the stickers on them.Β The heads just slide over them, although Ironhide's sticker is starting to wear/crumple because of it.

You can't see the sticker faces when the heads attached because the clip goes over the sticker.
