The guard walks his route, pacing as he have ever done. Newsfeed in his ear (audio only) speaks of another separatist war on old Earth. The climate has long since been brought under control, but that doesn't stop the stupid wars. You'd think everything would be done remotely by robots now, but no--too many want to fight for honor. Not that this world is any better; it's own independence from Earth was wrought by such a separatist conflict, and his own job was one the results. be he wasn't in it for honor, just the paycheck. Also it helped there was no fighting for the last fifty years. but we'll see how long it lasts, he thought, as the atmospheric fighters flew past in the sunset.
