The inking may give it the gritty-ness, but the colors do tend to make it pop more.

This picture is truly spectacular! I love the positioning! It really shows of the wonderful agile body that Spidy possesses!
I love how he's stretching out! It's just EPIC! The little specks of debris or dirt that's in the air adds movement to the picture!
Also you shading is da boom!!! As in it is wonderful! Your webbing is also incredible!!

How do you go about finding the placement of the shading for the body and muscles?

Yup. Prisma markers. I inked it with my Kuretake brush pen as well as Pigma Micron inking pens.

its an awesome piece dude, you definitely got this thing down. but what are the flecks on the bottom part? I don't think i've ever seen someone do that before
