Nothing.
"Come on, you gotta wake up. We have to go home."
Nothing.
Dinky felt the tears starting to form in her eyes. She wasn't stupid; she knew what death was, but this was wrong. This was her daddy, he was too big, too important, too wonderful to die. She prodded at the still form before her again.
Nothing.
Help. She would get help. Quickly turning, she ran a few steps, as though to find someone out here, in the middle of a chasm, in the middle of an alien planet. It was a stupid notion, of course it was, but she had to--
Dtzzz...ChZEEE...
She froze. Her ears twitched at the noise, and she slowly turned to find its source. Golden energy and the smell of ozone wafted through the air, and both were radiating from the now-glowing hooves of her father. The glow spread as she watched, moving up his legs and travelling along his blood vessels. She could swear she heard both her father's hearts start pounding.
All at once, the glow surged--completely obscuring the Doctor from his stepdaughter's vision. She jumped back, startled, then sprinted forward again, determined to get her daddy out of whatever this was. It was way too warm for her to get anywhere near him, but she tried anyway.
She couldn't see him, but she could see his shape--and his shape was changing. The legs were growing shorter, the chest broader. The mane and tail, normally scruffy and straight up no matter what he tried to do with it, was suddenly flatter, and--longer, maybe? Dinky wasn't sure.
All at once, a pair of bright gold eyes snapped open, the chest heaved in a shuddering gasp, and the glow ceased.
