Description My major project, using recycled materials -

The top is paper mache sheet music, molded with bird wire, with a piece of fabric backing so you can't feel it.

Then there's the top strap made from an ugly shirt glued to the mache, and the three hat elastic straps around the neck holding it up.

The skirt is made from numerous panels of different materials, starting with three leather straps glued to the plastic part of a blanket bag.

The first white panel though you can't see in the pictures is quilted with squares of different white fabrics on a piece of sheet.

The second panel is a pillow case decorated with strips of flyscreen and curtain netting and the zig zag stuff.. don't know what it's called.

Then at the bottom, and continuing around to the back is gathered mosquito netting. The white panel on the back is another piece of sheet.

And the black is some really stretchy material which purpose was to make it easy to get the dress on and off. And then there's just a black strap around the middle holding both pieces together.

Got all that?

---------

I never sew, I've never attempted doing anything like this before. It proved very frustrating.. I chucked numerous tantrums, but in the end I'm pleased with it. And perhaps I will continue doing similar things.

That is really cool. At the moment I am thinking a lot about recycling clothes in new ones, this really gives me inspiration. Thanks! Keep on it, please.

That's incredible.. I'm left without words, honestly. Just on a curious quirk, sheet music for what? (I play piano...)

Oh thank you. For the piano, I only really play it when I'm bored... because I'm not as could as I wish I was.

Was it for a Sonatina or something, though? I'm curious as to what piece of music it is/was, hahah. Curiousity killed the Jade. And, you're very welcome.

very ingenious! I love making things out of crap so that the crap is not crap anymore you uncrappified wel. I love the streamlined bottom half especially, with the draped frilly back.

Haha..uncrappified.. Well yes all the things I was cutting up were all quite ugly. There is so much more crap in my house that I will have to do something else with... so there is no longer any crap. Yeah I'm rather fond of the frills myself. Thanks for your comment, much appreciated.

im amazed at how well you combined those materials into a seriously nice frock that you would expect to find on the catwalk, i really like the black straps on the shoulder and hips oh and the sheet music, nice idea, to you pick any particular sheet music for the top or just whatever you could find? i just fought using a particular piece of music added to the special elegance in this.. definately a piece of art, absolutely well done and my default

Oh you're too kind. Yes it was a particular piece of music - killer queen, by queen. I'd never played it though, I'm no freddie mecury. It was just lying around in my mountain of sheets. I think one would have a hard time walking down a catwalk in this - or maybe just me because the dress was long and I'm so short. Or maybe just me because I've never worn a "nice frock" so I think it's expected that I would trip a few times. Thank you for your comment, and of course the fav.
