For the Monthly Contest from - ponies exercising.---
Again, another one that was sitting in my mind for the longest time and that was only done because of this month's contest. Not that I'm complaining, it feels good to be productive. ^^
This was certainly a challenge. I had to find the best poses for these models, and then try to fit everyone in the same shot.
I'll be the first to say it doesn't look all that good, but it was the best I could do.

Even if some of the poses are technically not possible, if to look at them from the prespective of pony's body, shape and structure, all of these are well made and posed. Plus, the expressions of each of the Mane's 6 really do fit their poses. I'd say that this, is one of my favourite works of yours from now on.

I really wanted to create this one because it'd be quite a challenge for me to come up with different poses, despite the limitations of these models.

Awesome work, John. The poses and expressions for the Mane 6 came out great. The only thing is the lighting.

The map states it's evening, but I'll leave that to the viewer.

I wished I could use more flexible poses for them, but these ragdolls can only do so much.

Those are just general construction props with a different material and color. To get the yoga mat look, I simply used the ragdoll mover and moved them into the ground a bit.

The posing is good! But I must stress the use of better lighting, especially on the ponies. Like it seems too dark.
I get the whole trying to make it look like it's evening, and in some circumstances it does work and will look good! But I dunno, something here just looks like it's not working. Maybe it's the ground's colorful and bright lighting and when put up against the contrasting, dim looking ponies, it gives that impression of them looking kind of...well... "dull". Maybe use a light or lamp tool and have it behind the camera and directed at them? It doesn't have to be strong the light as you don't want to eliminate that appearance of the sunset's light coming from the left, but something?

I've actually used d0ntst0pme 's lighting tutorial to "darken" the ragdolls, then used a couple of lamps - one on the foreground to simulate the sun's lighting, and a softer one behind the camera.
This's something I really need to work on; lighting. I've rarely done that.

This is almost a perfect example on what I'm talking about. Notice how you can see the ponies nicely with even weak lighting applied to almost the entire bodies of the ponies besides the strong light you see coming from the left and behind-ish. Yeah, sorry, don't know how else to explain it...

Yeah, I think I know what you mean. Instead of only a single light, I should've used one light for each ragdoll.

If your processor allows it, sure, if you want. You don't actually have use that many, but the point is sometimes you need more than one lamp to get the job done.
