Description Today marks the 20th anniversary of Ed, Edd n Eddy which remains the longest running original show on Cartoon Network as of 2019, with a nearly 11 year run starting from January 4th, 1999 and concluding on November 8th, 2009 with the made for TV movie Ed, Edd n Eddy's Picture Show. Not a bad achievement for an animated series especially one produced in Canada, a country known for creating less then stellar animated shows.

As somebody who didn't have Cartoon Network as part of my basic cable package until 2004, I only caught brief glimpses of the show here and there with my earliest memories of seeing an episode dating back to sometime in 2002. Once we did get CN on our cable package though, it quickly rose up to rank with Teen Titans as one of my favorite shows from the network with me almost always showing up whenever an episode would air, regardless of whether or not it was new or a rerun! And while I'll admit that the show wasn't perfect (Season 1 for the most part is somewhat slow and I too am no fan of If It Smells Like an Ed), even when the channel was beginning to enter it's first major decay around 2006/2007 by either ending or outright ignoring their better shows Teen Titans and The Life and Times of Juniper Lee (which was yanked off the network before it's last two episodes could even air!) in favor of unmemorable garbage like My Gym Partner's a Monkey and Squirrel Boy (which I always considered to be an even worse ripoff of an already bad show) or having most of their remaining good shows face a slight decline in quality like Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends (which around this time churned out infamous episodes like The Big Cheese and it's even worse POV Sequel The Little Peas), this show was able to still stick out as one of the best, likely due to not airing nearly as many new episodes during it's final few years.

To commemorate this milestone, I'm currently doing a rewatching of most of the series (barring the aforementioned If It Smells Like an Ed as well as the Halloween & Christmas specials because I already watched them last year during their respective holidays) and am presenting all the stuff I have (as far as I know and could find) related to the series which is mostly fanart.

My oldest drawings are shown to the left which are all from the summer of 2013, and the smaller one of Ed below those which is from late December of 2014. All the rest are range from July 2016 through last month.

I found the DVD for Volume 1 while at a flea market about two and a half years ago while Season 2 I got a few weeks back in preparation for my current rewatch of the series. I do plan on getting Season 1 eventually, but it'll be awhile before that happens as that DVD set went out of print ages ago and now goes for prices online that are far beyond my comfort zone (a brand new copy tends to go for $60 at best).

As you might've picked up from who I've drawn the most from this series, I have an obsession for Marie Kanker, which goes all the way back to when I watched this show throughout it's initial run. As a kid, I vaguely remember being envious of Double D for the fact that he had the hot Kanker sister obsessing over him (even if the whole schtick with the Kankers & the Eds ages more poorly the older a viewer gets)!

What I find particularly amazing about the show is the fact the Danny Antonucci created it because of a dare he made with one of his friends. Some time after his admittedly much less stellar show The Brothers Grunt ended, one of his buddies claimed that he couldn't create a kids show. Well Danny accepted the challenge and the rest is history.

The reason why it hardly aired any new episodes during its final years was because season 4 was supposed to be its final one ( with Take This Ed and Shove It airing in late 2004 and originally being the series finale, excluding the holiday specials ). It got renewed for a 5th season ( the school/autumn one ) which, excluding the holiday specials and CN alien crossover special, consisted of 13 full episodes shown from late 2005 to mid 2007 ( with A Fistful of Ed being claimed as the new series finale ). It was also renewed for a 6th season, but that was scrapped after the first full episode ( which was aired in the summer of 2008 as "the lost episode" ) were produced to instead produce the movie which would actually air in several other countries months before finally airing in the US in November 2009. So basically 14 full regular episodes and a movie spread out over a four-year timespan.
