I was just thinking about the old Halloween costumes of the 1970's...a plastic mask that would get all wet inside around the mouth from your breath and saliva, with a rubber band to go around your head that would pull your hair, and a costume with a picture of the character on the costume, how did we think they were so awesome?!! And when my Mom would pull it over me on top of my coat, they would often rip. But they were awesome to us. When I think of those days now, I feel like my heart is going to burst. Childhood memories are good and warm, but at the same time, painful because I long for a time that is gone forever. How did I go so wrong? Why are so many others so hurtful? I don't know the answers, but I try to express my feelings and depression and loneliness in my drawings. So many people, well, almost EVERYONE that I personally know, have no clue about art and such attempts to express one's heart. This area, this city, I'm not sure but there is just no culture and nobody gets it. But, I still try to create something that says something, and I hope that is WORTH something. But then again, a drawing doesn't take the pain away. Quasimodo and The Elephant Man are in this particular sketch, because I feel close to them. I understand.
