The tall dude in the background is the local Grand Inquisitor in the Spanish Main, and these are his bodyguards, tercio heroes (musketeers, as opposed to pikemen).
They fight against Morganna Drake's Sea Witches, Admiral Van Doorn's Spooks and Jenny Hanniver's sea-based monstrosities. Plus they're rivals to the Vatican-sanctioned Portuguese Dagger Sisters.
Bah, screwed up the sword blade dimensions, hilts, guards etc.
