Description This is a convention sketch I did some time ago. The commissioner was kind enough to send me a jpeg.

In retrospect, I wish I had orieneted my paper in a landscape fashion, as opposed to the portrait orientation I went with here. It would've fit better, and allowed me to include more of the speeder bike. Even so it turned out surprising tolerable for something I threw together while trying to shill BGC posters. [link]

And, yes, I'm fully aware that Princess Leia had long since changed out of her metal bikini by the time the speeder bike scene took place in Return of the Jedi, but a man can dream.

Two of my favorite things about Star Wars, this is amazing. It's like a Kit Kat and a Reeses Peanut Butter Cup rolled together. Fav'd!

Er ah, she's translucent, because of--the force...or something.

Oh wow, this is gorgeous

You did a great job on Leia, her pose and expression (and, of course, the legendary LMB), and the bike looks cool too
Put them together and you get awesomeness!

Like I said, this should have gone into the movie.

It's a shame they covered Leia up during the rest of the film(s) (Yet another reason I feel 'Trek has the advantage over 'Wars. Every chance they got, Uhura was stuffed into an outfit skimpier that her standard uniform, which was also skimpy!)

Could you imagine it if they ran with the scantily clad Leia theme? Leia could show up as the unidentified alien bounty hunter in a shiny leather catsuit! Or, when she befriends the Ewoks(No, it's not what you're thinkin.) they, being little folk, wouldn't have a long flowing dress to give her, but rather a skimpy fur bikini.

The money in additional action figure and poster sales alone would probably buy Lucas the American presidency.

But I digress...

Very definitely ^^

You've got a point there, Uhura's standard outfit was very flattering and she did get a few other outfits.

I can certainly imagine a scantily clad Leia. All of those thoughts are great Should go back to the other two movies and continue it
And really considering that the slave girl bikini was virtually Carrie Fisher's idea, it's a shame that they didn't do more with the skimpy-attire for Leia.

They do seem to have learnt from this with some of the characters in the prequel trilogy though *cough - Aayla - cough*.

Oh yea Aayla her combined appearances amounted to a rockin' 45 seconds of screen time.

Night-Miner In reply to JohnStaton [2009-08-14 10:42:23 +0000 UTC]

Well better then her not appearing at all, and she was quite memorable.

But yeah a lot more work needs to go into seeing scantily clad cuties on screen in Wars

That and other little things like plot and characterization and dialogue.

Night-Miner In reply to JohnStaton [2009-08-15 02:56:15 +0000 UTC]

LOL

Well personally I always thought the plot wasn't that bad, but yeah the characterisation and dialogue could certainly use a lot of work.

That always mystifies me, cause Lucas worked with Spielberg on the Indiana Jones series and the dialogue in that is so much better.

JohnStaton In reply to Night-Miner [2009-08-15 17:12:30 +0000 UTC]

Okay, I guess the overall plot wasn't bad, particularly when you consider that the plot for all three films boils down to that one awesome monologue given by Sir Alec way back in Chapter IV: When George Could Write. But the plotting, or pacing of how those events would take place was still atrocious.

Night-Miner In reply to JohnStaton [2009-08-16 03:05:22 +0000 UTC]

Yeah I think that's the thing; overall the plot was fairly good, but the pacing, the dialogue, the acting direction let it down in a big way.

star wars is largely dead to me. all but my younger crushing on carrie fisher as slave leia part, and the crush on the speeder bikes too. lol

I like the idea and the choice of bikini outfit...
Just a bit puzzled about the shadow, so sharp and detailed for the bike but almost completely absent for the girl (except her foot)...

Just what I was taught. On machines you try to strike a balance between suggesting as much detail as possible, while keeping the image readable; and with youthful pin-up girls you try to suggest as little detail as possible, while still retaining a sense of comprehensiveness to the image.

I've never really thought about the conflict in directives. You're very observant to point it out.

Now if only you could draw Olivia Munn in Slave Leia gear in your style. And then I would spontaneously mindgasm to death.

Heh, I wuz using Star Wars only because it was more universally known than the Green Lantern mythos with follows generally the same rules, only with ring color. (Yea, I a multilingual geek!)

Which Clone Wars? The cell animated cartoon? Or the cgi one with the spunky teen sidekick?

zarsh009 In reply to JohnStaton [2008-12-20 02:32:21 +0000 UTC]

CGI spunky teen sidekick. In many sense, i feel it was aimed towards kids.

The plot could have been better. I would surely like to see more severed bodies.

Maybe they should just rebooted the New Hope till The Return of the jedi match the episode 1 to 3

JohnStaton In reply to zarsh009 [2008-12-20 03:08:39 +0000 UTC]

Well one thing I do appreciate abou the cartoon is the fact that they use fresh new Y-Wings. With as beat up as the look in Star Wars (I will NEVER call it "A new Hope!" ) they clearly should have been around in Anakin's youth.

I hate interpretations that portray the beat-up, carbon scored, part-shy rebel spacecraft as stolen new prototypes. Okay I'll stop typing now. Geeking...out.
