You really captured the old charlton universe feel in the way you drew this.

It's funny that DC wouldn't let Moore use the Charlton characters because they thought his story "would ruin them."
DC managed to do that on their own with the major storylines that have run the past 20 years!
RIP, Charlton characters -- Blue Beetle/Ted Kord (the Beetle many fans cared about; they still can't get many people -- including Hispanics like me -- to like Jaime Reyes much at all!), the GOOD Question (Vic Sage), Peacemaker, Nightshade, and Captain Atom.
If the editors had allowed Moore to do what he wanted to do originally, at least the characters would have gotten a decent Viking funeral instead of the pitiful bottle rockets that were Armageddon 2000, Countdown to Infinite Crisis, Final Crisis, and 52...
And why oh why did they kill off The Question after he was portrayed so well on the Justice League animated series???

Although, I respect you opinion I believe that you have never read the original 52. 52 focused on everything that followed the death of Ted Kord and countless other events that occurred in that Crisis. 52 was received critical acclaim and was one of the best written series. One issue came out every week and the quality never dropped for all fifty two issues that covered the missing year.
Ted Kord's death was one of the best stories that I read at the time and it completely brought back all of Ted's badassness that had been disappearing over the years. Jamie Ryes entire series was great, it was especially respectful of Ted Kord's legacy, in addition to the entire Blue Beetle legacy. Jamie Reyes lives his super-hero life by the phrase "What Would Ted Kord Do?" Booster Gold's series following the death of Ted Kord was one of the best written series of the time the original 52, B00ster Gold (00 being the Infinity symbol) and focused on Booster having to deal with the death of his friend and become a serious hero. Victor Sage was a great Question, but the storyline of him setting up Renee Montoya to become the next Question was also great (original 52 also). Peacemaker was a major player in Jamie Reyes run as the Blue Beetle, even if they do not cover his past very much.
Nightshade was a major member of the team "Shadowpact" a great series of magic users. Mostly they were minor characters (Blue Devil was the most famous).
As for Captain Atom, I never read his solo series, but he was well written in the Superman/Batman: Public Enemies storyline and he was the main character in Captain Atom: Armageddon. After the end of Public Enemies he was thrown into the Wildstorm comics universe and given a major power boost. That is all I am willing to say, because I highly recommend the story to all Captain Atom fans. It is the last time DC treated his character right, before the New 52 occurred. I do not know how he is written in the New 52.
