This was one of my first commissions. A co-worker loved this photo of her daughter and wanted me to draw it.I used 2B graphite pencil and 24 lb. copy paper.

I like the extra information in this drawing. The crayons... the drawing pad.. even some detail in the background gives this am interesting setting.

I do like drawing backgrounds but most of the drawings I've been doing lately only have total black backgrounds and I didn't want the drawings to be so dark (I'm referring to the Tommy drawings & the married couple) so I didn't put the black in until the last Tommy drawing. Thank you for commenting. Bonnie gets all excited when I tell her that someone commented or faved the drawing.

It's true... not all backgrounds are worth drawing. Lately, Ive decided to invest more time in some of the backgrounds. It makes a big difference on how people gravitate toward the work. When I decided to add an extra element to the Nikola Tesla piece, people favored it more often than the others without the background elements.
