Carol and Katie are engaged to be married, and seriously contemplate the possibility of separation.

Episode trivia:
1. At the time this episode was made, nobody was sure whether or not this would be the final episode of the series. Producers had been negotiating a deal to continue the series in first-run syndication, a deal which eventually fell through, due to the deal the producers had with HBO.
2. The ending scene of this episode, showing the twins arriving at the hospital for separation, was left as a cliffhanger on purpose. At the time, Jessica and Jennifer Stanton were unsure of what direction they wanted to take the story of Carol and Katie Banning in, and had left whether they were separated or remained conjoined "open to debate"(their own words).
3. One idea the Stantons were considering was a spin-off, titled "Separate Lives", which would have followed the lives of Carol and Katie post-separation.
4. The fact the twins wear glasses in this episode was Jennifer Stanton's idea. Both Jennifer and Jessica had been wearing contacts since season 2, but during this season, Jennifer began wearing glasses in her personal life, and only wearing contacts while filming. In this episode, it's revealed the twins began wearing contacts somewhere around season 3, but Katie began wearing glasses due to an eye infection, and Carol began wearing glasses for convenience.
