did a small thingy,also a note: i love the velociraptors designs in JP/JW, it'll always be a fond nostalgic reminder to me and in no way am i putting down the designs. but it is fun to compare dinosaurs in pop culture to the current consensus on how dinosaurs looked in life.

JP's iconic velociraptors were actually based on the theropod's close relative, Deinonychus. Deinonychus was genus of dromaeosaurids with only one current described species, D. antirrhopus. These dromaeosaurs were much larger than velociraptor, its length potentially reaching over 3 meters in size, and its skull 16 inches. Its bite force ranged between 4,100 - 8,200 newtons, equivalent to that of an alligator its size.
In other words, you likely couldn't win a fight against a mature, fully grown deinonychus.
