I love this stamp and I support it.
But a lot of awesome music was created by people insanely high on drugs.Β And I'm uncertain the music could have been written and performed with the same excellence had drugs not have been an influence.

"Drug" means anything you ingest or absorb which modifies you. This includes just about everything you eat. Do you drink coffee or tea? do you eat any foods with sugar in it? These are drugs.
Every night when you sleep, your pineal gland is releasing dimethyltryptamine (DMT for short), which is one of the most illegal substances in the world. Which is hilarious, because it's literally found in every living thing on the planet. Every time you dream, or imagine, every piece of abstract thought you have, every wish or goal or anything beyond instinct is thanks to DMT.
Now, you're right, SOME drugs are not good for you, some have some very adverse effects! This is why it's very important to research things.
Anyone who says pot is bad for you, clearly knows nothing about it. The Cannabis plant has been found to be very medically beneficial in so many different ways, and is significantly safer than alcohol and tobacco as a recreational drug.
It's changed my life, SO MUCH for the better. As a child, I was considered handicapped. I struggled with reading and writing, math, pretty much everything. I could not keep up with anyone, no matter what, nothing made sense to me. They speculated that I might have mild autism. However, sometime around highschool, I experimented with smoking with some friends, and suddenly EVERYTHING made sense! Everything started falling into place, and I suddenly had dreams and goals, and motivation! I started thinking MUCH deeper about things, and taught myself new things all the time. I'm now very passionate about art and science, and literacy. I've graduated college, and become so much more than I EVER would have. I wouldn't be the proud man I am today, if it weren't for cannabis opening all of the previously closed doors in my mind.
Cannabis didn't mess me up, it opened me up, and showed me how to be a better person. It showed me my true potential.
I don't even smoke anymore, I don't need to. It already showed me the truth.
Learn as much as you can, knowledge and literacy is so important, it's the best weapon against ignorance in this world. <3

why? define what you'd consider a drug.
Anything you ingest or absorb, and are in some way modified because of it, is a drug. this includes pretty much anything. Do you drink tea or coffee? do you eat anything that contains any sugar? Those are drugs.
Genuinely research things before deciding to hate them, you might just miss out on meeting the most wonderful, interesting, thoughtful people by judging them over next to nothing. Alcohol and Tobacco are infinitely worse than cannabis could ever be.
Approach everything with an open mind, learn as much as you can, and use your knowledge to sort it all out. <3
Have an awesome day!

WELL THEN, if we already have DMT in our body, why do we need extra DMT?
We don't, no-one needs any drugs unless a doctor prescribes them!
π: 0 β©: 1
Jazzpirate In reply to Eternities22 [2014-05-31 05:06:50 +0000 UTC]
Because there are TONS of products that we eat every day that contain chemicals that actually calcify our pineal gland. (That's the part that is supposed to generate DMT) Even WATER, just plain old city tap water, often contains fluoride. The world really is not as black and white as you might think it is. A LOT of prescription drugs are terrible for you, but generate a TON of money, and depending on the doctor, there are frequently anterior financial motives to prescribing them. When there is money to be made, a lot of people will do just about any morally questionable thing for it. Politics is one hell of an example.
You are going to be VERY surprised one day, to discover that SO many people you love, and have looked up to over the years, both in the media and in personal life, have tried and enjoyed drugs. Drugs that have no reason to be illegal. Don't get me wrong, a lot of drugs are TERRIBLE, prescription and otherwise. But this is why it's important to understand them, do research on them before making blanket statements like "All drugs are bad". Odds are, you consume more "Drugs" than I do, just in your day to day meals and snacks. Butylated Hydroxytoluene for example, causes cancer. It's in A LOT of food. Cereals, etc. If you drink milk, you are consuming rBGH/rBST (a bovine growth hormone), which also causes cancer. Bisphenol A (BPA) is found in just about any kind of plastic container (bottles, cartons, anything that comes in plastic), and the protective lining of cans, and it not only tends to cause breast cancer, but it also interferes with chemotherapy treatment, meaning it makes the cancer damn near impossible to beat. Essentially a super-cancer.
Look, I'm not telling you to go do drugs. They're not for everybody, and of course they're not a requirement. What I am asking, is that you open your eyes, and truly understand something before you start talking trash about it. Pot for example, is literally a medicine, and treats a MONUMENTAL number of ailments, including cancer. Not to mention it's ability to prime the brain for learning new things, and comprehending new concepts.
I don't want people running around doing drugs all the time. I want people to open their minds to education beyond academia, and to better understand the world around them.
A rational, thoughtful, caring mind is what the world needs more of.

I get the feeling that you might not know what you're talking about, and are simply repeating things you've heard equally uninformed people say.
The point is that you need to understand what the definition of drug really is, and how much "drugs" YOU personally and unknowingly consume every single day.
You should take the time to educate yourself on what is harmful and what is beneficial. Prescription drugs kill FAR more people annually than recreational drugs do.
You need to consider for a moment that maybe your elders aren't always right about everything. In fact, looking at the political, economical and environmental state of our entire planet, it's pretty clear that they have NO IDEA what they're doing.
Story Time: When I was a child, I lived in constant fear and oblivion. I had NO attention span, and couldn't pay attention from the beginning of a sentence, to the end of it. No matter how much I wanted to listen, I just couldn't keep focus. I wanted to be a good student, but was just the worst. I was CONSTANTLY in trouble for not paying attention, and was the laughing stock of the entire school. I was bullied constantly, by students AND teacher alike. It was hell. By grade 6, I attempted to commit suicide. I sought help, and was offered "Ritalin", a drug that is supposed to calm one down. However, this drug, suggested by a doctor, can cause horrifying side effects, some of which I had witnessed a friend go through. Here is a list if you're interested. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Methylph⦠Now, I refused to take Ritalin. Several years later, just entering highschool, I met some really nice people that didn't make fun of me for my short attention span. They introduced me to pot smoking. This changed my entire life. For the first time in my life, I could concentrate. I could pay attention. For the first time in my life, I was confident, and happy. I quit smoking pot because I was worried I'd become one of these "addicts" that you hear of. It was so easy to quit, and the positive effects where permanent. There was no dependency or addiction. I was finally a functioning member of society, able to hold a thought, or a conversation. Pot saved my life.
If you're opposed to drugs, you should really fully understand WHY. Drugs aren't all bad, just like prescription drugs are not all good. People in authority aren't always right. Use critical thinking, education, and proper judgement to sort the truth from the lies.
