Looong time since I posted here on dA! So sorry for my absence again! I have been super busy working on exciting projects... I really missed you guys and I really want to become much more active here in the future. Still need to finish up some of my projects, but I promise, I haven't forgotten and won't ever forget about you..
This piece is quite different from my usual artworks.. It was done for a charity auction by the organisation "Heart Research UK", which I'll be part of.
How do you interpret this artwork? I had lots in mind while drawing it, but I like leaving the message up to the viewer. 🤔 Would love to hear your thoughts!

My initial interpretation is kinda simplistic and obvious.
I have some vague feeling that the cage has to do with love; it and the key are heart-shaped. The bird in the cage is holding the key, so in order for the trapped bird (feelings of love) to be free, someone else must use the key that is entrusted to them. However, if that key is lost (you are betrayed) you are doomed (jaded) until the key is retrieved (someone slowly earns your trust again).

It's so beautiful I interpret as opening your heart to God, sometimes it seems imposible but it's very easy, so you can be free from your own cage (harden your heart). It's so nice to know it was for a charity organisation

And two I personally see this as a lost hope kinda thing, like how we sometimes see ourselves as such small creatures like birds or mice and our own insecurities make us feel trapped in this small cage, wishing someone would help us?

Perhaps a commentary about how we all....need someone else in our lives, whether love, or friendship, because else we are all "trapped"

It evokes a very sad, understanding feeling from me. Giving away that key would be a nightmare and the ultimate test of trust.
Whoever you gave it to could drop it, or open the cage, or steal it away.

I don't see a lot of art where there's a lot of extra meaning like this. I should try to do that more with my on stuff. I think you did a good job.
