With the many Green Lanterns I have I needed someone to coordinate them, so I got this Guardian. It is just a generic one, I liked but my girlfriend said just making the lines doesn't make it look cool.One think, they are blue, wear red, where did they get the idea to be the Green Guardians? They could use green at least, it would be cliche but would look better.

The reason that they use the colour green is because their ancestors, specifically the Maltusian, Killala [link] , learned to utilise the green light. They have used it as a naturally inherent ability ever since.
Their skin colour is a basic fact of their biology. Their red robes I'm not sure, perhaps they just liked it.
