A little look at the stages of production.The hardest part is the preliminary sketch. It's the foundation of any picture. It might look scrappy, but the entire balance of the image is decided at that stage. Any time I've not focused on it enough, the end result always looks like a piece of sh*t. Get it right and the rest of the image comes together easy.

It's actually really cool to see your "messy spaghetti" stage--seeing how a few quick gestural lines translate into the form is like deciphering a different language that's super engaging to read!

so my problem is I dive right into 2 and then constantly erase and redraw obsessing over the proportions cuz i can be an anatomy stickler.
As a fun little experiment i did it your way starting with a malleable sketch and made my way to a simple coloring.
At my current level it wasnt perfect but it was a sizable improvement. ill be doing it from here on out and ill be sure to thank you in my award speeches for best comic writer of all time.

When you first started drawing when you were...I don't know, three or four years old, did you ever run into this strange wall where you felt you needed to take a break after each and every stage? And yes I know the answer - power on through - but it'd be interesting to know if you ever had this problem.

It is flat, there's no foreshortening, the pose is stiff, the posture looks she's a puppet hanging on a string, the colors are practically monochrome, it's like Jollyjack is the only person who can manage to make furry fetish art BORING.

As an artist, wannabe at best, i have always struggled with this, as i do with my writing. I want to make my first drawing the best drawing and I know, KNOW, this is a ridiculous idea. I have seen some of the best in the industry begin with the rough idea and this always helps me to realize I am being a twat and get my head back out of my ass. LOVE seeing progression pics. Pretty much everything I do is digital, these days. I still do a bit of hardcopy stuff, but day-to-day, I work straight onto the computer.
