I just hope that what Cave Johnson said about portals leeching out the poisons was true.

I like to personally think that she isn't free, but instead, in a 4d personal reality chamber. She sees what she wants to see, and assumes she is free; however, GlaDos is not finished with her yet. LoL. that would be the tits.

All I can say is that I don't think she even made it that far. It's my headcanon that the smash cut to black before the credits was Chell just dropping dead right there.

There are at least four poisons inside Chell's body right now, so there's nothing stopping me from assuming that the smash to black was just her dropping dead the moment she breathes real, non-recycled, adrenaline-free air.

i figure getting blown out of a chute and then breathing fresh air would be enough to kill her in the same amount of time but it didn't.
You also under estimate the body's ability to adapt, she'd likely get sick but not drop dead...

And where was she just a few minutes ago? The Moon. In the middle of a vacuum sucking air out of the Enrichment Center. Where she no doubt inhaled lots of moon dust. Oh, and with the way the gel comes out, it might have gone up her nose. Point is, Chell had at least two deadly poisons in her, and was breathing radically different air. Couple that with an exit that not-too-subtly recalls being assumed into Heaven, and you can see why I like to think Chell died seconds after earning her freedom. In this setting, that'd be the only apropos ending.
Let's not forget that not five minute before, GLaDOS purged every last bit of humanity from her system. She'd know how bad of a shape Chell's in, with the poisonous moon rocks, asbestos poisoning, neurotoxin, and bullets lodged in her body. So the easiest way to get rid of Chell would be to just send her away to die, with no effort on her part. Why are you so opposed to Chell dying?

Nah if that was the case it would have killed her long before being exposed to fresh air, its not like her body is only capable of living in a toxic environment.
There's not enough time for her body to adapt to the gel atleast, she might have adapted to the moon dust but even then fresh air wouldn't kill her.

It's not JUST the air that'd kill her, it's everything else inside her reacting to the sudden lack of adrenaline, causing her body to shut down and succumb.

you're telling me through the entire game she was full of adrenaline?
Look i don't think a person on cocaine has ever spontaneously died soon after not getting cocaine...it takes days for something like that. If you die suddenly you were already in critical condition, and chell showed no signs of that.
It just doesn't happen where you spontaneously go from athletically healthy to dead.
Now maybe a sudden brain hemorrhage from sudden change in air pressure might do it thats happened before more or less, or something else along those lines, but i just don't see it otherwise.

GLaDOS mentions that the air you're breathing is recycled and pumps the entire facility with adrenal vapor, so you never get tired. Presumably that's what's been keeping Chell going even after all the long falls and bullet wounds, and been keeping her health up even as she gets soaked in highly toxic gels. Take that away, and boom! Skeleton collapses, lungs collapse, asbestos and moon rock poisoning kicks in, and Chell lives just long enough to be reunited with the cube. GLaDOS won.
