The breeding bit itself is actually easy, it's the designing that's the hard part. xD I understand it for the most part, but there are some things I'm still unsure of. If you want I can help you with what I know.

Well.. one thing i wanna know is like, you can ask two people to breed their tokotas and you can have the pup? Or pups? or wh?
Can you explain that part of breeding? ;v; getting things from others?

So to get a Tokota you either have to buy a geno, which people can have for sale some times or you can ask someone if you can breed their Toko in exchange for something. Art usually works. I myself am offering pups right now for pictures of the Rites of Fertility, cause once they get their Rites done they can be bred and any who drew art for me will get a pup. Or a full litter, based on how much they draw.
Once you breed the two Tokota you get any where from 1 to 4 genos that tell you kinda what the pup will look like.

Huh..
Can you explain hp? Like when people make images they write stuff like shading +hp coloring +hp hunting +hp and stuff like that?

KirasDarkLight In reply to JollyMutt [2014-10-10 07:58:49 +0000 UTC]
So HP is received based on how fleshed out the drawing is. It doesn't specify line art specifically, but a full body sketch is worth less then a full body done with shading and a background.
So let's say you did a sketch full body of the Toko it's worth x amount of HP, now if you were to add colour that would raise the value, and it would go up again if you shaded and then added a background. A full picture with 1 of your Tokotas completely coloured and shaded, with a complete background, will net you value of 5 HP. Backgrounds don't need to be your best for this, but they do have to be more then basic shapes. xD

Why would I want hp though? ;o; whats it for and how do i know how much i earn, and must i keep track of how much i have?

KirasDarkLight In reply to JollyMutt [2014-10-10 08:11:10 +0000 UTC]
HP is gained every time a picture of your Toko is drawn, you don't need a form to claim it or anything. What it does is raise the status of your Tokota. So lets say you have a Submissive Tokota it takes 75 HP worth of art to bring that Tokota to Average status, which offers better benefits for breeding. Once a Tokota is Average it takes 250 HP to get to Dominant.
You don't have to keep track of the HP if you don't care, but it's a good idea to.

alright ;o;
im so sorry to bother you about all this x'DD
Do you think you can explain rites? and Tests?
How do those work? Can you randomly take them or are they assigned, and what effects your score?
and ect ect anything i can know about rites and tests would be lovely xD

KirasDarkLight In reply to JollyMutt [2014-10-10 08:16:56 +0000 UTC]
xDDD No worries~
So Rites do have a set Criteria Rites of Fertility and you can see what is required for each picture there. Make SURE you read all the info provided because it tells you exactly how the judging works, and how to not fail. xD But the basic idea is the overall score is based on your personal gallery, you're not compared to other artists. So if you do a shit job compared to what you normally can draw you'll probably fail, but if you do an okay or the same quality as normal you should be just fine.

Ahh i see! ;v;
idk if you noticed but im trying really hard to learn as much as i can, asking you questions and reading EVERYTHING on the front page, and mainly the group directory, there is a lot to process ;o;
So i just set these up for when i get my first babes, did i do these journals right? ;v; I want everything set and ready.
sta.sh/220qpjppt7ht?edit=1
I know theres quite a few ways to get a tokota but how would you suggest i go about trying to get something specific? Likeee.. if i really wanted to get a piebald tokota kinda like these beauties, Tokota F353 , Amsonia F429
How should i go about getting something like that, and what would be the quickest option other then waiting for group events? ;o;

Those journals look great to me~ I still need to set up my own journals, I just haven't had the chance to yet. xD But yeah, they look fine to me.
Ohhh piebalds, yeah they're pretty. What I would do is I would put up a journal on your DA page titled something similar to 'Looking for Piebald Tokota or Piebald Geno' and then state in the journal what you're willing to trade for the geno/Tokota. Submit the journal to the Advertisements in the Tokota group tokotas.deviantart.com/gallery… and hope that someone replies. I myself don't have any piebald or I'd love to help you out there.

Soo... What's a geno? I don't even know what 'imports' mean honestly, this breeding stuff is completely foreign to me ;-;

KirasDarkLight In reply to JollyMutt [2014-10-10 08:42:22 +0000 UTC]
Genotype: ee/Aa/TT/nG/Cc/nA/nM
Phenotype: Marked collared greying tawny, with accents
The Geno is the genetic make up of your Tokota and determines the rough layout of what it can look like. The Pheno puts it into laymens terms so the average Joe can understand it. An import is basically a designed Geno aka a geno that has a picture to go with it.
Yeah, the breeding took me a bit to understand too. xD

Ooh I see ;0;
Hhh so much to learn omgg
I don't know what else to ask but i feel like theres a lot i still don't know, any other things you wanna tell me about that werent covered, and any tips and tricks? ;v; and ways to simplify the complicated... xD

KirasDarkLight In reply to JollyMutt [2014-10-10 08:51:26 +0000 UTC]
Pffff, that is tough to answer. I would start out simple for the moment honestly until you understand more how the breeding works and right now just focus on getting A Tokota. Once you have them do some drawing and get involved in the group and learn as you go, watch how the breedings are done comments.deviantart.com/1/4654… and once you understand it a bit more then focus on getting more specific types.
Though from the sounds of it you really do want a piebald, post an advertisement journal stating what you're looking for like I suggested and then submit it to the group.
