interesting with the SAAB design combined with something more new

Nice design as always, I take it these work something like the LAAT/v?

The cargo section probably won't be open, but rather feature a cargo module like the other ISSCV's, only perhaps slightly wider. My thinking is that atmospheric entry could be rough on a tanks hull, not to mention the crew inside. So a tank or IFV/APC like Pearly would ride inside a cargo container 'Tin Can' to be dropped off on a planets surface. Once the Tin Can is on the ground, the vehicle would then drive out and start kicking Chigg Ass...the Tin Can would also be designed to be somewhat disposable, either meant to be left behind or constructed in a way that it collapses once it hits the ground.
In situations where you're just moving around inside an atmosphere or landing on a planet with no atmosphere than it wouldn't be such an issue and you could just hoist heavy objects to the frame of the ISSCV and take off to wherever you might need to go.
There is also the possibility of specialized cargo modules, that don't necessarily need heavy lift vehicles but would benefit from the longer length of this ISSCV variant. For example, a new troop transport version could carry more personnel, a larger amount of supplies, as well as more on board weaponry.

I like the collapsable vehicle module idea, perhaps something like the landng container used for the Spirit/Opportunity/Curiosity rovers; when the ISSCV hits the ground during a combat landing, the container detaches and the sides fall outward to allow the vehicle to egress (maybe explosive bolts to propel the bisected top up and outward as well).
Something else might be interesting to go with your heavier armament module idea - a module that allows the ISSCV to perform ground support missions like the AC-130.

An ISSCV Spectre Gunship...that could rain a lot of 'ouch' onto the Chigs.

I always wondered how 'Pearly' was landed...

Yeah, that was my thinking as well. Either there was a larger ISSCV or one of those smaller escort ships seen among the fleet was capable of landing on a planet.
