When I was a child I had a lot of trouble learning to read. So much trouble in fact that I gave up even trying. When I was bored one day at my Grandparent's house My Grandmother gave me a book, a fully illustrated copy of "From The Earth to The Moon". I spent weeks just looking at those pictures. It was months before I realized I had also been reading it. I had actually been learning to read all on my own with no help, no supervision, no pressure, and no teacher looking over my shoulder. I went on to read more SciFi and more adventure I read Books by Edward E "Doc" Smith. Edgar Rice Burroughs, Andre Norton ans o many more I lost count. I read mysteries and ghost stories I read books about Archeology and other sciences. I learned a heck of a lot from those books and the stories they told but one thing I learned more than anything was that I loved to read and I have never stopped. To this day with all the different kinds of media there is out there I still love most of all to have a real book in my hand. Thank you Mr Jules Vern and "Doc" Smith and all the rest of you for giving me a life long passion.
