Description
TEXT
As modern successor state of the historicalPapal states, which
were „swallowed“ in the course of the Italian unification,
the Vatican appears today as independent Nation
in world politics and sees itself as political centre
of Catholicism. Besides Lesotho and San Marino,
the Vatican is one of the few states in the world
whose territory is completely surrounded by a
single other state. About 1000 people live in the
Vatican City, most of whom are permanent
employees. In addition to all this, this
jewel of European architecture
becamed a popular destination for
tourists from all over the world for
every year.
