One word of advice to any visual artist: don't complete an artwork in one sitting.
I did that with this image, and my goodness, it's just not the way to work. Take breaks every now and then, especially on digital art. You can rest your eyes, and come back to the work with a fresh perspective, ready to begin anew.

I designed the character—Captain Glint of the 65th Coruscant Guard—a couple of weeks prior to actually illustrating it. He dual wields a standard DC-15S Blaster Carbine and a DC-17S Blaster Pistol. If I'm honest, I really like how his Phase I armor design looks! (These details relate to the Clone Wars era of the Star Wars franchise to those who don't know)

When I started this illustration, I didn't think it would take as long as it did. I kept adding details and, while I do think it makes the image better, I should have been more conscious of how long it was taking. That said, I am mighty pleased with how the image came out; I love the pose and the shading! Looking back on the finished work, though, I feel it leans too much on the blue side in terms of the hue; I wish I added some yellow in the highlights to really make the main character pop, but oh well. I can always add it later!
