Description Here's a preview of what I'm working on right now. I was working on the interior of a train, but it's slow going. Most of this I cooked up today in a bout of frustration.

So yeah, Freckle's room, as seen in 's Lackadaisy. Or at least, as close I can get it. More stuff to add, including the handle's on the hamper, the cupboard to the right of the bed, and other things.

And yes, the pillow looks horrendously uncomfortable. It's temporary. I'll add bedsheets and the blanket too.

Edit 3: Just two extra angles and tweaks. More to come.

Yeah, I mentioned in my comments the render was awful and that I was redoing it. Which I now have done so.

looks nice. much nicer. what was your render time? i would consider moving that box away from the foot of the bed sligthly. i think your textures are going to make or break this. did you consider makign the floor one object, and adding the planks with a normal map?

Yeah, but I like to model the floor boards separately as this is just a still render, and I'm not specifically optimizing it for anything. It's more a modeling exercise than a texture one.

I probably will move the hamper back, yeah. Looking at it now I can see it's a little too close to the foot of the bed. Good eye there.

Render time was pretty quick. Roughly 2 minutes.

I think textures tend to make any scene, though obviously the lighting is important too. This is just basic lighting, nothing really atmospheric about it.

the lighting is more important than the textures, really. i just wanna see you texture some stuff . gah, i wish you were closer man, i would show you this uber quick way to slap textures into scenes with the latest photoshop. you can actually 3d PAINT onto the object, after you export it as an obj. it is pretty nifty and quick.

That does sound interesting. Though I do want to get the hang of texturing inside Maya as well.

how well do you lay out your UV's? texturing all really boils down to that, and your uv's are completely reliant on your topology. which you are pretty good at modeling, so i think it will all come really quickly for you
