Description
I'm not one to make definitive statements, but I think I can say without ruffling any feathers that I enjoyed the hell out of Harvey Beaks. Of all the great animated shows we've gotten in the last few years, this one hit just the right vibes with me.
I went into this familiar with the work of C.H. Greenblatt, who also created Chowder for Cartoon Network. Even then, in my first viewing, I was still impressed by the quality. Many of the elements that made Chowder good are enriched here to the umpteenth degree; grand textured backgrounds, brilliant coloring, and a mutant bunch of wild child animals. There’s such a sense of innocence, offset by a large forest atmosphere, that seems reminiscent of a children’s book. It’s cute and funny without feeling forced or too grotesque.
Overall, I can’t recommend Harvey Beaks enough. It’s not only the best Nickelodeon cartoon in years, but it’s also one of the most satisfying viewing experiences I've had in some time. I’ll be back for more as new episodes crop up.
