Commander Christopher Rivers - Chief Security/Tactical Officer, Starbase 134

Once the golden-boy of Starfleet, Christopher Rivers, formerly a commanding officer of his own starship, Rivers was demoted to the rank of lieutenant commander and sentenced to a six-month stint at the New Zealand penal colony for actions during the recent Borg Crisis. His unilateral decision to sell out the location of a top secret Starfleet monitoring station prevented Breen Confederacy forces from invading several Federation worlds, causing the deaths of forty Starfleet officers by saving over two hundred thousand civilian lives.
While many Starfleet JAG officers believed that Rivers' actions were unsavoury but acceptable, his blatant disregard for the chain of command and the deaths of his colleagues cost him his captaincy. He has a long way to go to earn back the trust and respect of others, and the chances of him ever sitting in the captain's chair again all depend on his conduct from now on.
Released into the custody of Morgan Bateson, one of the only people to stay in his corner, Rivers knows that his assignment to Chimera is the only chance to rebuild his career. Choosing to remain in relative anonymity, his actions hang over him like a dark shroud, especially since it cost him not only his career, but also his family. Unable to handle her husband's fall from grace, Alicia Rivers petitioned for divorce and rejoined Starfleet, accepting a posting on a deep space exploration mission to the Gamma Quadrant, taking two of their three children with her, while their eldest has just been accepted into Starfleet Academy.
