Lt. Commander Darren Tel - Assistant Chief Security/Tactical Officer, Starbase 134

Starfleet is in Darren Tel's blood, so no-one was surprised when his hard work paid off with admission to the Academy. Initially trained as an engineer during his freshman and sophomore years, the urging of impressed professors pushed Darren to take several other electives in order to have a more rounded education. Upon graduation, he continued those studies, keeping his technical acumen up-to-date, while pursing a career as a junior officer on the command track.
Unfortunately, while his professional life thrived, his personal one was not as well-developed. Thanks to a strained relationship with both his parents, opening up to people has not been one of Darren's strong points. He has not found the time or desire to find the balance other officers around him managed, choosing instead to push ahead in his work. Recently promoted to Lieutenant Commander, Darren joins Chimera's as the new assistant chief security/tactical officer, deputy to Commander Rivers.
Despite his youth and relative inexperience compared to others at Chimera, only being 27, his service record caught the eye of Captain Bateson, who personally reached out to offer him a position at Rigel IV. The older statesman of Starfleet sees an exciting future for the young man, and has decided to mentor Darren and prepare him for life as a commanding officer.
